We stayed in a family room at the hotel, only to discover that all family rooms are at the front of the hotel, and have very little sound proofing from the restaurant below (with an air unit blowing until 11 pm) and the pub over the road. We were kept awake until 1 am with the noise. The room itself had old stains on the wall and was not worth the price of the stay. I would definitely not recommend staying in this hotel if you want to sleep

The hotel is just around the corner from the Train station. Penarth has a lot to offer, plenty of shops and restaurants. Glendale hotel has it's own restaurant and a pizza takeaway. We would stay again. lovely big room, hot shower. The owner let us check in early which was very good of him. We would stay again

Family-run boutique style hotel opposite Penarth train station, close to the shops and high street ... a quirky interior decorated with lots of interesting paraphernalia (perfect for gazing at whilst sitting on the comfy sofas or waiting for your delicious home cooked breakfast or dinner ... The owner, Tony is an old school hands-on hotel manager having run the hotel and restaurant successfully for over 30 years ... he has a dry sense of humour which made us giggle and he is a real gentleman who takes the time to chat ... perfect bolthole for our weekend visit to Penarth for a friend's wedding ... my room (22) although small and a 3 floor climb up stairs was clean, tidy and nicely decorated ... it did the job perfectly as I wasn't there to sit in my room all day ... an unreasonable reviewer here had called their room a 'nasty little cell' ... I say a bedroom is a bedroom ... get out and enjoy Penarth ;)

Stayed for one night to visit family locally. Friendly on arrival, accommodating staff, and Tony was great. Lovely meal, the special of port belly was cooked to perfection, my husband had the crab linguine, which was equally delicious. You must have the garlic pizza bread, tasted wood fired, amazing. spacious, old world charming, very clean room. The breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. Would definitely stay again.

This is our fourth visit to this hotel and we love it. This hotel is great, it is clean and the staff are friendly. There is some noise from the bar and restaurant below but this stops at closing time. It is close to the town centre and easy hassle free parking.

What a nasty little cell this was that I am embaressed to have paid £130 for. Managers should hang their heads in shame. Flat mattress which was described as a bed was on a chipboard ledge no higher than a skirting board. Metal headboard was screwed to the wall which left a gaping hole by my head through to the mortar. Drab textiles which didn't fit any of the spaces they were for. Windows offset from the walls, Shower controls were outside the curtain - which was too narrow for the recess anyway. Mould on the shower tray. Cheap textiles, flat pillows and rip in the duvet. Constant noise throughout the night from plumbing and boilers and the street below due to bar and restaurant. Couldn't get a refund through the booking vendor due to the hotel being uncontactable and not answering their phone. Dreadful experience - managers should be ashamed of themselves. I felt cheated.

A bit rough around the edges but generally good. If as I was your are travelling by train then the location couldn’t be better, literally 1 minute from the station. If, as I was, you are dining at the Michelin starred Home restaurant, then it’s a 2 minute walk so ideal. I had room 7 on the first floor. The room itself was large with a huge bay window and a view to the front of the hotel, a large tree outside providing good privacy. A standard offering of tea, coffee and basic toiletries was provided. Room got a lot of sun but the windows opened, allowing ventilation. The bathroom was quite small but the shower was good enough. The hotel itself was quiet, although I did experience a bit of noise from the pub across the road. Breakfast was freshly cooked and of good quality. WiFi was good throughout. Staff were friendly and professional both in person and whilst communicating during the booking process.

Stayed here as we needed accommodation for a wedding. Very nice location, staff friendly, good seats outside when sunny, & nice bar. The price was for accommodation was surprisingly good too, given Penarth can be very pricey. It’s opposite the train station too.

This hotel was very welcoming. The room was very cosy, clean, comfortable and warm. The staff very friendly. Parking on the streets outside was hassle free. Access to the town centre was very close. We never ate at this venue so we cannot comment on this.
