I am writing this of my own personal experience, not that all of it will apply to others. This was my first holiday in 5 years, and first time as a solo traveller. I care for my 82 year old father who has cancer and copd and I work, so it was a lot to organise for some respite Initial thoughts on hotel were awful. I had paid extra for double room with balcony, and was only staying 4 nights. Got there late after a long day travelling, to be told for one night I would have to stay in smaller room. Smaller? I was in a box room with single bed and no balcony, just a very dirty patio enclosed with shrubs. The bed and pillow hard, I felt lost...as there was little I could do. Then I had to run to restaurant at 9.10pm as it finished at 9.30pm and what I had felt like the leftovers....All I could do for my first days holiday was to retire to bed. At 8am next day, I told reception I still couldnt unpack and was upset, and was only there another 3 nights. They DID get it sorted quickly and upgraded me to a lovely big room with sea view which did help me start to relax...and make up for an awful start. It is a very German/Spanish orientated hotel, but apart from not being able to speak to others much, all very relaxed and civilised. The food...maybe ive been spoilt with the 5 star hotels ive been to...but hot food seemed very average and lukewarm and quite mismatched at times, with no specific themes...but certainly lots of choice of bread, cheeses and salad...pastries and cakes. I don't have a sweet tooth so that was sadly not for me. The pool and pool area was lovely, and easy to find a bed. The girls entertaining people were friendly and enthusiastic. The evening entertainment was good, and would not affect anyone unless they wanted to be in bed by 11pm. The WORST part was leaving on a late flight. I was feeling quite poorly, and checked out at 10am. I left a tip in my room for cleaners, and paid my bill at reception. The lady on reception was lovely and accommodating, and my cases went in to a locked storage which I had a key for (and other people travelling later).... The WORST thing for me, which has never happened in my life, and unexpected in what seems like a hotel with mostly adult couples (being an adults only hotel)...I took my luggage for coach pick up, and all the money I had in case was gone. 130 euros and 100 sterling for my taxi back in England. I should have locked my case. As a solo traveller, I was worried the whole time about carrying money on my person in case having to leave unattended. I honestly thought that room was safe as there were only a few other cases for people leaving later. I would NEVER go in to a luggage room with intent on going through cases to steal. My faith in humanity here declined, and realised I could not trust anyone anywhere. I don't know if it was another traveller or staff. I wanted to cry at the bad ending to short holiday, but felt so poorly and weak. When I got back to England, I found o
