What a fantastic retreat in the Westfjords! We chose this hotel to be close to the bird cliffs to see the puffins and it was a great choice. The owners were super friendly and helped figure out the best time to see the puffins. We had dinner in the restaurant that was a baked fish dish and skyr with berries for dessert. It was FANTASTIC. I wish I had the recipe so I could make it myself. Breakfast was also great. The room was large with great views. We were able to walk down to the sandy beach. Despite it being in the 40s, it felt like a beach in the Caribbean. The cliffs are about 30 minutes away but its a very, very rough drive so be prepared. My husband really enjoyed talking to the owner about his experience owning the hotel and the history of the place. We would definitely stay here again if we come back!

Hotel Látrabjarg is the ideal place to stay if you want to see the Látrabjarg Cliffs and the Red Sand Beaches. My husband and I booked a spacious superior room with a beautiful view overlooking Patreksfjörður. The room had comfortable chairs, a desk, and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was included with more offerings than the standard continental breakfast we had enjoyed at other hotels in the Westfjords; croissants, delicious Muesli, multiple types of tea, and the best skyr ever! We ordered the 3 course dinner each night and both nights were great eating. Karl is a wonderful host and I would highly recommend his hotel.

A great location if you’re going to the cliffs. Rooms are tidy, quiet and clean. One quibble about the cups in the room – they’re cute, but way too big to fit under the faucet! They serve a single menu starting at 7pm, so get there by then if you want to eat. Yes, dinner was a bit pricey, but the food (cod, asparagus soup, fresh bread, rice, vegetables) was very good and definitely not Costco frozen. Breakfast was just OK - limited selection, but they had yogurt and muesli.

Remote, peaceful and family run with only 18 rooms it is more like a guesthouse than a hotel. Our room was large and comfortable with views to the beach and fjord. A set meal of excellent home style food is provided in the charming dining room but only during limited hours so don’t arrive after 8pm. Mine host was very welcoming and happy to talk about the local area and history. It was an easy walk to the beach after dinner which was buzzing with an array of nesting birds. Breakfast was simple but adequate. My only quibble was there was very little fruit which ran out and was not replenished.

Very nice hotel. Nice and comfortable room with a good bathroom. Situated at the end of fjord Patreksfjörður, the view is very nice and it’s very quite. Hotel staff is very friendly. As it is a guesthouse, only one menu is prepared each evening. Only remark: the menu is 7000 ikr per person.

We chose this guesthouse to be close to the cliffs. Very comfortable bed and nice sized room. Breakfast was very good. The owners were very helpful. Hopefully we will be back to see the puffins and will stay here again. Please not that you will be on gravel roads for most of the drive.

Very comfortable backcountry lodging. Fixed menu for dinner was excellent. Reviews to the contrary should consider the remote location of the facility. Well run and definitely would return. Host was accommodating and very helpful with local history.

Wir haben 1 Nacht im Hotel übernachtet. Die Familie welche das Hotel führt ist sehr lieb und gibt sich wirklich alle Mühe für die Gäste. Das Zimmer war sehr gross und sauber. Das Frühstücksbuffet war solala (kein skyr joghurt). Leider gab es zum Abendessen nur 1 menu. Aber für zu den Puffins ist das Hotel sehr gut gelegen und kann es daher auch empfehlen.
