SO/ Paris Hotel

Paris|1.18km from Theatre Contrescarpe
I booked my wife to stay at this hotel recently and she loved it. I needed to be in Paris, and decided to try it myself. It is now the place I will always try to stay in Paris. The great thing about this hotel is that it is a perfect trade-off of price/location. In September, we stayed at the Faubourg Sofitel (also Accor) which is about as 'Prime Paris' as you can get. Right next door to the Elysee. For that, you got a hotel which was about 50% more expensive, for 40% less product. SO/ is central, but a bit on the edge, and for me that is worth every cent of the tradeoff. Additionally, the tradeoff places you right next to the river with views of Paris that are sensational. And anyway you are 5 mins on foot to the Places des Voges - this is still beautiful Paris. Other big pluses: - food quality is really high in Bonnie. We went for dinner and breakfast. Both great. Dinner buzzy, and possible the most beautiful breakfast room views imaginable. In summer.... wow. - rooms are extremely high quality fit out. Bed is incredibly comfortable. Just be aware that there is now bath or desk even if a room which could accomodate it - staff are charming and very well trained. - access by car is easy. Very few people will be driving (but I was). Access is super simple, and the valet parking v reasonable (about Eur40) - I didn't use the gym or pool, but they looked amazing by Paris hotel standards - I loved the design concept of the hotel. It is young and modern without being like a W (which I don't like... trying too hard) I strongly recommend. Thank you SO/ Paris.

Crowne Plaza Paris République, an IHG Hotel

Paris|2.83km from Theatre Contrescarpe
We stayed six nights at this fairly spartan property that was fitted with basic room attributes including a small refrigerator, a hair dryer and a tiny safe. We requested a coffee maker and received a hot pot with instant coffee. Getting an iron in the room proved a bit of an ordeal. The room was clean and the beds were quite good. Hotel staff was uniformly convivial, accommodating and helpful with exception of an encounter with the night manager (more on that later). Only one low voltage outlet in the bathroom was provided that could power an electric razor. My daughter brought a dual-voltage curling iron and hair straightener that could not be used in the bathroom due to lack of an electrical outlet. Staff ultimately provided an extension cord to be strung from the nightstand, and over the bed that my daughter was able to use to reach a wall mirror in the bedroom. We had the misfortune to be at the property during the annual Pride celebration at Place de la Republique directly in front of the hotel. My wife has mobility issues and we had to push through hundreds of drunken celebrants to get to the only entrance to the hotel. Scary stuff getting pushed along by a mob where my wife could have fallen and been trampled. I understand the Pride celebration is a public event but its a scheduled event that the hotel could have alerted clients to and made provisions to have opened a guarded entrance on the backside of the building away from the inebriated mob. With an early morning departure to the airport, I went to the desk the night before to check out so we could leave quickly the following morning. The front desk clerk advised that the hotel had my card on file and my e-mail address so they would send me the bill thereafter with nothing additionally to be done the next morning - just drop the key and run. As we were leaving early the next morning the night manager told me that I couldn't leave because I hadn't settled my bill. He inferred I was skipping out without paying the bill. I recounted the discussion I had the previous night and he repeated firmly that the bill needed to be closed out before we could leave. It was an uncomfortable encounter that was unnecessary. Somebody needs training here and its not the client. In summary, I'd say this property lacked many expected elements for the price point and as such could only describe it as providing moderate value. The lack of provisions to accommodate client access during the Pride celebration and the check-out snafu made it seem that they were somehow new to the game.

Charming hotel in a good central location. The staff was most friendly and helpful to tend to our every need. We opted for the room upgrade and found it to be big enough for our needs. Everything clean and tidy, airconditioning rather silent, and we found the bedding very comfortable. Next to that we had no noise from outside, so all in all we enjoyed a good rest during our stay. Breakfast in buffet arrangement, ample choice without being exaggerated and more than tasty. Will certainly book again next time in Paris.

Latin Quarter
There are a few things to say about this place first: First, the location is absolutely superior. The Latin Quarter is beautiful. It is an old-fashioned Paris neighborhood. You can walk to the city and various places. This alone makes it worth staying here, regardless of the hotel. How about it. Second, there are different areas in the hotel, basically two separate 4-story buildings with a courtyard in the middle. I feel like there are good and bad buildings in these two buildings. Anyway, we live in a good building. Third, the hotel is closed during the day, which would be troublesome if it's winter or if you're sick, but after all, it's not a problem for us. We booked a double room for 5 nights, bringing our own bedding. Room: very very small, with sink. Very Parisian. There was a very small floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the courtyard, and I wouldn't have realized how small the room was if it weren't for the fact that our luggage almost couldn't fit inside. The security issues can only be said to be basic. The waiters will come to ”clean” every day, whether you like it or not (I suspect that the so-called ”cleaning” may just ventilate the room, because this old-fashioned building may get damp or something?) . Not sure, but you might lose some small items (change, etc.) at this time, so be sure to take your belongings with you or lock them up, because people will come in even when the door is closed. Bed: Very basic, but quite comfortable. We brought our own bedding, but after a few nights we paid for a set (not much money), which was okay, but I was worried about the cleanliness. Bathroom: Average, I don't want to say more. Very basic (my standards are already very low, my bathroom at home is outdoor). I wouldn't dare use the bathroom here in winter. The shower water is not hot (it's always ice cold) and the small floor-to-ceiling window doesn't seem to close properly. The shower was broken when we stayed (but we used spare water and it was quite sufficient). The toilet and bathroom are on different floors and the toilet is very basic. You need to bring your own toilet paper, because they often run out of it, and bring your own hand sanitizer. If the quality of this hotel is lowered, the cleanliness and safety quality of the bathroom will really be a fatal problem. In other respects it's pretty good. Waiter: Excellent. They all speak English (and other languages as well), are calm, civilized, competent, and friendly. They always sit down and chat with guests. It seems that most of them are local college students. They are definitely the highlight of the hotel, few of them are wild kids that party hard, they all tend to talk about literature and politics, which is really good. In addition, they are also very helpful in booking taxis and buses for you. Facilities: The pay phone was broken. Wi-Fi is expensive (if your French is good enough to log in, find a park with Wi-Fi). There are small kitchen facilities where you can cook your own meals. Most things you need (groceries, laundry services, etc.) are available nearby. Very close to the city and public transportation system. Storing valuables at the front desk will keep them safe (not sure 100%, but much better than leaving them in the house). Others: The breakfast was quite good, with cereals and baked goods, toast, juice, coffee, and tea. Being closed during the day was not an inconvenience (I thought it was), but one day we got soaked and wanted to go inside to change, but no one let us in. I would like to reiterate that I am very impressed with this place, even with all the shortcomings. I should also point out that I didn't see or have anything to do with the hostel, and even if there was, I wouldn't have booked it (it's certainly not clean, safe, or stylish). It's a safe place with a lovely atmosphere if you're feeling adventurous, but if you're more interested in cleanliness and stability than character, look elsewhere.

Saint-Germain World Hotel Hotel Nations Saint German On Monge Road, it is clean and tidy. The front desk staff is warm and thoughtful. They draw a few places I am going to on the map in great detail and help book the hotel reservation. Thank you 🙏. The hotel is not far from Notre Dame, and it is convenient to walk straight along the Monge Road in front of the door for about 10 minutes to the Seine River.

Very friendly reception which allowed us to rebook our dates without any hassle. The hotel gave a good impression right from arrival. Clean in all aspects with friendly and helpful staff. The room was small (which we know) but very practical and had all necessary amendments and rich toiletries were provided. The bed was perfect and the room service like fresh bed sheets and cleanliness was excellent. The window prevented any noise from the outside. The very modern AC worked also very quietly and efficient except that at the lowest ventilation level it still exercised an uncomfortable draft directly to the bed. We checked out the night before our departure and were informed that taxis could be found within short notice. The reality in morning was that all Taxis were on strike (a fact wich was known in advance) but not to us. Thanks to the good location (close to 2 Metro Stations) we managed to get to our Train in time. We did not use the breakfast but appreciated the free coffee provided during the day in the very nice setting room. Good area many restaurants and Metro stations within walking distance.

Hotel rooms are small This is a common problem in European travel. The location and service of the hotel is good. Breakfast is ok, there is Chinese food and Carrefour on the go, very convenient. I encountered a small problem when I checked in, and Ctrip solved it in time. Ctrip's service is still in place, and there will be no service at all for booking in the next few days. Ctrip will be identified later.

This is an excellent smaller hotel in the 5th arrondissemente of Paris. Quite close to Place Monge, metro (line 7) and many small restaurants, patisseries and bars. The hotel was pleasant and the room clean and well appointed. Despite being on the street, I head little noise. The bed was comfortable and the WiFi free and fast. The only improvements I can suggest would be 1) add safes to the room, 2) add a coffeemaker, or hot water pot to the rooms, and 3) increase choices for the petit dejeuner beyond bread, pastries, yogurt and fruit. All in all, a very pleasant stay.
