There are a few things to say about this place first: First, the location is absolutely superior. The Latin Quarter is beautiful. It is an old-fashioned Paris neighborhood. You can walk to the city and various places. This alone makes it worth staying here, regardless of the hotel. How about it. Second, there are different areas in the hotel, basically two separate 4-story buildings with a courtyard in the middle. I feel like there are good and bad buildings in these two buildings. Anyway, we live in a good building. Third, the hotel is closed during the day, which would be troublesome if it's winter or if you're sick, but after all, it's not a problem for us. We booked a double room for 5 nights, bringing our own bedding. Room: very very small, with sink. Very Parisian. There was a very small floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the courtyard, and I wouldn't have realized how small the room was if it weren't for the fact that our luggage almost couldn't fit inside. The security issues can only be said to be basic. The waiters will come to ”clean” every day, whether you like it or not (I suspect that the so-called ”cleaning” may just ventilate the room, because this old-fashioned building may get damp or something?) . Not sure, but you might lose some small items (change, etc.) at this time, so be sure to take your belongings with you or lock them up, because people will come in even when the door is closed. Bed: Very basic, but quite comfortable. We brought our own bedding, but after a few nights we paid for a set (not much money), which was okay, but I was worried about the cleanliness. Bathroom: Average, I don't want to say more. Very basic (my standards are already very low, my bathroom at home is outdoor). I wouldn't dare use the bathroom here in winter. The shower water is not hot (it's always ice cold) and the small floor-to-ceiling window doesn't seem to close properly. The shower was broken when we stayed (but we used spare water and it was quite sufficient). The toilet and bathroom are on different floors and the toilet is very basic. You need to bring your own toilet paper, because they often run out of it, and bring your own hand sanitizer. Very close to the city and public transportation system. Storing valuables at the front desk will keep them safe (not sure 100%, but much better than leaving them in the house). Others: The breakfast was quite good, with cereals and baked goods, toast, juice, coffee, and tea. Being closed during the day was not an inconvenience (I thought it was), but one day we got soaked and wanted to go inside to change, but no one let us in. It's a safe place with a lovely atmosphere if you're feeling adventurous, but if you're more interested in cleanliness and stability than character, look elsewhere.

The rooms were small but clean. There were small cubes where to save your stuff but not even a carry on would fit there. The private bathrooms were ok but there were no towels to even dry my hands on or to step out the shower afterwards, so everything was a bit wet. Sometimes I could not get it into the common bathrooms for some reason and I know I was not the only one (problems with hostel card) We asked whether they could add us all to the same 4-bed room since we were 3. They said they could and afterwards they did not 'by mistake' so this was a bit disappointing. The place in general was awesome, it was very nice, clean, friendly staff. They also have lockers where to store your luggage if needed. Breakfast was a bit expensive but totally worth it. Location was convenient since there is a metro station just around the corner, so it was pretty easy to move around such a big city. I would probably go again.

La calefacción no la usamos ya que no hacía tanto frío. Al baño le falta algo de limpieza, tenia mucho moho. El desayuno es buffet y es bastante bueno con diferentes opciones. El servicio del personal también fue muy bueno. Fueron muy amables. Solo un detalle para que tengan cuidado. Un día salimos todo el día y cuando regresamos, la puerta estaba entreabierta. Al parecer, la persona de la limpieza al salir, no cerró bien la puerta. Afortunadamente no se nos perdió nada, pero la verdad nos asustamos mucho.

However I recommend a first morning walk to Notre Dame, then work your way down the Seine to all other sites and sounds. The Hotel des Arenes is all you need for a short stay. Friendly and attentive staff, clean and adequate rooms (with safe and fridge), continential breakfast and if you feel fit enough, a straight line walk to the Champs Elysees! It sits besides a Roman arena that is 2000 years old, you know you are in the heart of Paris.

I booked this room at the very last minute. It turned out to be a great choice. It was a spur of the moment first visit to Paris. All the staff I met were very friendly. Linda at the reception spent a great deal of time providing advice and direction for my two days of exploring Paris. I booked a single room - by U.S. standards it was small! But it was very clean, quiet and the bed was very comfortable. There is a lift so at checkin/out you don't need to use the stairs with your luggage. . The narrow street in front of the hotel is full of a great variety of restaurants, bakeries, shops and bars. This hotel is very conveniently located a quick walk from the Place Monge Metro station and less than a 15 minute walk from the Luxembourg station on the RER B line - a direct route to/from CDG. Simply a great location away from the major tourist center yet all those tourist points of interest are easily accessed by Metro. I would definitely stay here again.

Good hotel. Solid experience. Feels like a 4 star hotel. Kind and accommodating staff. Giving me extra soft tissues as I had a cold during my stay. Nice little french balcony. Good location near metro and lots of restaurants and bars. Close to notre dame, and jardin luxembourg. Walkable pretty neighborhood(Paris 5eme) right by Sorbonne University. Would come back, hopefully without a cold next time. Only drawback, bar is seldom serviced and the selection is limited.
