We recently took a trip around Greece. After a tough hike to Mount Olympus, we wanted to treat ourselves to an all-inclusive hotel so that we could relax for a day. We were looking forward to a 4 star hotel and were already disappointed when approaching the Grand Platon. There was no sign of relaxation. Upon check-in we were told we had now been upgraded from a standard double to a superior, which we were initially pleased about. But when we got to the room, we asked ourselves what a standard room is then! Cleanliness was okay, but there were now single beds that we had to push together ourselves and the mattresses were so hard that you thought you were lying on a board. We decided pretty quickly that we'd rather drive a few more kilometers and return to our cozy 3 star hotel where we slept the night before. But then we could not reach anyone to contact about booking or canceling this Grand Platon hotel. No one answered all the phone numbers in Germany and Greece that we got when booking and then found on the internet. Not at Byebye (German and Greek number for matters during your stay), not at alltours (also) and not in our travel agency either. We thought it might be midday and then tried a little later several times, but no one could be reached. Well, when we looked at the buffet, first of all there was hardly any choice. Second, you had to show up pretty early to restaurant opening hours to find anything reasonably warm. Thirdly, the service looked very unmotivated and unkempt and not properly dressed. The music was very annoying. We had booked all inclusive and thought there might be something for us at the beach bar that is signposted in the hotel and thus apparently belongs to the hotel, but no, it wasn't included. Even the berths on the overcrowded (!) beach weren't allowed to be used unless you bought something at the beach bar. The beach wasn't clean either. Okay, then we asked what counts for all inclusive. The answer was that it was the canteen style dining room and the pool bar. So we walk to the pool bar and look around there. Ice cream, chips and sweets...no, you have to pay extra for that, only the juice, soft drink and coffee machines are available for you, without additional payment. We paid 172 euros for one night and would have preferred to have slept in the car and bought something to eat in the restaurants, which are good and cheap in Greece. It definitely wasn't worth the price! We would really discourage anyone from booking there. The hotel is definitely not worth 4 stars, at most 2. Otherwise on the trip we had 3 star hotels, all of which were umpteen times better than this one
