Property Description
Set in 24 acres of beautiful landscaped grounds and woodland areas with panoramic views overlooking St. Austell Bay, Trenython Manor Resort has earned the reputation of being one of the premier locations on the Cornish Riviera for fine dining, comfortable accommodations and total relaxation. The elegant manor itself has tremendous character, featuring many exquisite Italian details, particularly in the magnificent entrance hall. The Egyptian pillars standing inside the front door originated from the Temple of Ephesus and are said to be thousands of years old. Trenython Manor is an architectural treasure, in 1872 an Italian architect commissioned by General Garibaldi, who is often called the father of the modern Italy, designed the building. Other notable objects that can still be seen today include General Wolf’s Headboard, Lord Nelson’s Sea Chest, the dining room walls with carved oak panels and some Italian marbles sent over by Garibaldi which are now in the restaurant. Tastefully renovated to the highest standards, the resort combines Italian architecture with English charm to offer an oasis of tranquility and a truly unique holiday experience. The extensive range of on-site facilities includes two restaurants, a bar, private dinning room, conference room, a fully equipped indoor swimming pool, sauna and Gym, while Spa treatment rooms offer the ultimate in relaxation and rejuvenation. The Manor is also licensed to host civil ceremony in a variety of settings; the Gott Suite, a converted chapel with beautiful stained-glass windows and a coastal scene backdrop. Or the Du Maurier Suite with wrap around windows and doors leading out onto the splendid sun terrace. A dedicated co-ordinator who will help with every last detail of the wedding day. Over 30 self-catering cottages and lodges, dotted around Trenython Manor’s natural grounds, are furnished and equipped to high standards. Each has a fully fitted kitchen and lounge area, as well as a private patio on which to sit and listen to resident birdsong or watch the ever changing skies over St Austell Bay. If you prefer, stroll along the stunning nearby beaches, or explore the unspoiled scenery and local treasures at your leisure. The Eden Project, one of the world’s most renowned biomes, is just a short drive away from the area, which makes it an ideal spot for a memorable day out.

booked this hotel for our 46th wedding anniversary after seeing the write ups on the quality of the food and hotel. The hotel write up says “wake up to sea views and a hearty breakfast included on both mornings of your stay, tuck into the continental buffet or order cooked items from the menu, will it be full Cornish or eggs Benedict? Our talented chefs will create a three course dinner for you to enjoy in the intimate oak panelled Dakota restaurant also included in one night of your stay expect delicious dishes where local and seasonal ingredients shine” I must point out that this hotel was taken over in September 2024 and I think most of the information on their website is related to the previous owners the delicious food was not forthcoming we had booked that romantic weekend which included rose petals in the room, chocolate bottle of Bubbly & breakfast on both nights with three course dinner on 1st night The breakfast was most disappointing I've never seen such a bland looking full English in all my life as per the photograph and it was all cold and I ordered it with the eggs poached to be on toast so the yoke would seep into the toast and my wife ordered egg Benedict, both our eggs came up solid! The evening meal which again nothing related to previous write ups on the hotel. The main courses on offer were pasta arrabiata, sirloin steak but that was an additional £10, duck with noodles and hoisin sauce, cheeseburger and fish and chips. The duck and noodles came up with a duck leg on top! Whenever I've had that in any other high class restaurants the duck always comes up shredded in the noodles not dumped on the top. The waitress we had who's now gone off to Bali was outstanding, the maitre-d' for breakfast and in general I must say was very poor. While staying you could NOT run up a TAB! Every time we ordered a beer, wine or anything you have to pay at time of ordering.

This review is about the HOTEL and hotel ROOM we stayed in only - the lodge in the hotel grounds we were moved to after 2 hideous nights was fabulous - clean, fresh and fully equipped (and we had no complaints either about the scaffolding which entirely covered the Manor House building but only showed that some external maintenance at least was underway) So, the room (which we were expected to stay a week in) ... was utterly shocking. When we'd signed up for our CLC Trial Membership we had been promised that we would have 5 holidays where the last thing we needed to worry about would be the standard of our accommodation, since we had purchased 5 weeks of ‘luxury accommodation’. Other CLC holidays have (or have almost) matched up to that promise, but the hotel room we were allocated at Trenython Manor would barely have passed muster as 2 star budget accommodation. After our first 2 nights there, when we’d hardly slept at all due to what sounded like someone banging a metal pipe on a dustbin lid every few seconds throughout the night (which on investigation turned out to be caused by a gate at the top of the scaffolding outside our room, which had been left open and was swinging to and fro in the high wind and constantly banging against the metal scaffolding), we'd asked at the hotel reception for a room change - and were moved to one of the aforementioned lodges for the rest of our stay. But the room ... well, there was absolutely no way we could have spent a week in that room – even without the disturbed sleep – because it was tiny, shabby, ill-equipped and very, very dirty as evidenced by the attached photographs. IF you need to stay in the area be sure to book a LODGE rather than a room!

My daughter and I had booked a spa day here but never again. The staff were all very friendly and helpful but the food was disgraceful and the facilities were very poor. Really poor value and much better options in other local hotels. I won’t be returning.

We stayed in a two bed villa and booked last minute. What a bargain what a find and what a fabulous place. We spent £144 through *********** for one night for 4 adults. Everything was amazing. The domestic staff should be praised for their high standards the whole place was spotless. Bathroom kitchen & bedrooms/bedding amazing. The check in at the hotel was good - we didn’t get to swim as they only had a 18:15 slot for 4 people but dinner was booked for 19:00 and would have been a bit too close to make it worth it. We decided to buy the breakfast at the hotel £13.50 pp - AMAZING VALUE ! Well done to the great team serving us the girls were brilliant at their jobs and very capable dealing with anything that needed doing. Literally so much food on offer and the quality was good/high. We will definitely use these chalet/villas again and would highly recommend. Top tip we took our own micro towels and needed to use them in the bathroom as the ones left were a little bit small!

From the first visits to Trenython for Sunday lunch in 2017 our experiences have declined from superb to dismal. Our last experience endorsed that the only consistency has been the greeting and attention from Selim the restaurant manager other than that the presentation of the table and the food was at best "canteen standard" Such a disappointment that the standards have fallen for a location and premises that are amongst the best in Cornwall.

We have had the best evening. We booked the swim and evening meal deal. Absolutely perfect. The lifeguard who greeted us was friendly and then when we went in for our evening meal it was perfect. We were celebrating a 40th birthday. Table was set beautifully. Food was absolutely divine. We enjoyed evening minute. The waiter was friendly, attentive and kind. Nothing was too much trouble. Honestly book you won’t be disappointed. Thank you so much for a lovely evening and for making local ladies very happy. We will be back again. Thanks
