We recently stayed at a hotel in Paje and overall had a pleasant experience, especially considering the affordable price. The location was definitely one of the highlights — it’s right on the beach, with plenty of great restaurants within walking distance. The staff were lovely and welcoming, and the pool area was a great place to relax, with a good number of sunbeds available throughout the day. We also enjoyed the food at the hotel restaurant, particularly in the evenings. That said, there were a few downsides to our stay. Housekeeping wasn’t always consistent — our room was left unclean at times and we didn’t receive fresh towels, only later finding out we needed to hand our key directly to the cleaner, which wasn’t communicated clearly. Communication overall was a bit of a challenge. For example, we were told initially that there would be no card fee, only to be informed at checkout that a charge would apply. The exchange rate offered for converting dollars to Tanzanian shillings was also the worst we came across during our trip. Breakfast could be improved too — there were quite a few flies on the pastries each morning, which was off-putting. Lastly, there was a lot of construction and building work happening around the property during our stay, which detracted a bit from the otherwise relaxing atmosphere. Despite these issues, the hotel offered good value for money, and with a few improvements in communication and cleanliness, it could be a fantastic place to stay in Paje.

The security pulled and pushed me, trying to drag me by the arm. I was on the beach trying to cross to the street behind this hotel. I did not know there was a party, but I was not going to the party, I was taking the side path to be able to reach the road behind the hotel. I was sober, not a drink. Two muscle guys, barked at me, pulled me. I was shocked they physically grabbed me. I told them to let go of me. I am a solo woman. 5 other guys were just walking, crossed arms, like a squad. The guy, some muscle guy on steroids told me 'I had to follow instructions', he didnt tell me there was a private party, which I was not going to, but rather the side street. I am not easily scared but this was intimidation. Imagine someone losing there head and immediately violating your physical space. Avoid, avoid. I went to the police even to file a complaint.

We didn’t think it could be as bad as the reviews as it was recommended as a cheap option by a friend. The hotel is fine during the day. Pool is good and service is ok. You get what you pay for. Nothing special, which is fine for us. But the rooms……AC’s barely work, we lost power during the night and then from 1am-4am they were digging a hole to find the power cable right in front of all the rooms. They were very unapologetic in the morning. Had kinda, “that’s the way it is” attitude.

Great location and friendly staff
The location and hotel facilities were incredible(Beautiful pool and beach). The rooms were also ok. Friday party was very fun. Staff was friendly. The AC was too powerful for the power, so it kept giving error codes and going off. Maintenance checked the current but only turned the AC off and on again. Therefore the error code came back and the AC turned off after 10 minutes. I had to read the manual myself, identify the problem and set the AC on ECO mode to save power. Never had issue with the AC again but it was not as efficient.
Some tips for a better stay.
1. Set AC to eco mode (Press GEN Mode). there should be a battery icon under the degree sign on the AC if it is in ECO mode.
2. WiFi was terrible in our room, but it was great at the restaurant and chill area.
3. Would not recommend having kids there on the Fridays, the party was lit.

Worse experience staying in this hotel. No water!!!!! In shower toilet sink!! Electricity kept going on/off. Bar guy Omani threatening behaviour for letting him know the cocktail he made wasn’t good. I am lucky I am safe and sound from that horrible place. Location is good the owner needs to rethink and hire trained staff. My travel company chased them to fix the issues but after two nights I had enough and moved to another hotel. I normally don’t read reviews. I just book and go and see how it goes. This has taught me a lesson at least do research. My British English friend she said this place is not for white foreign girls it’s way too dangerous specially Friday party night. Please book couple of nights first to check before any long terms. All their packages are none refundable I wonder why!!

When reviewing this hotel, you have to remember how much you pay. The rooms were a great location, all close to the beach, all close to the sea, the restaurants etc The manager of the hotel came to meet us one day, and I really appreciated this touch (I am also a manager in a hotel so I notice the small things) The bed was super uncomfortable but a after a few nights we were used to it. The bathroom has no door!! Only a shower curtain, and it only goes half way down But on a positive note, the housekeeping team were amazing- just leave your key at reception when you want it cleaned. No mosquitos in the room! It also came with a fridge and AC. The restaurant was enjoyable for my husband, but I cannot eat gluten or have anything that could have been contaminated by it so I actually emailed to check I’d be okay to eat here. I was not. For breakfast I had fruit (slice of pineapple, slice of watermelon, and half a banana), and in the evening when I tried to eat, the waitress confirmed after saying I can’t have gluten that ‘yes there are fab vegetables on the plate’ - not even close. Unfortunately the restaurant lets this hotel down Really friendly bar staff, badly stocked bar however. Ran out of rum and vodka, and only had cider once. Overall, I would absolutely stay here again without meals included! Like I said, for the price, it’s absolutely worth it!!

Please before you book this place. Consider room electricity cut off often more than you would imagine. No water in bathroom occasionally little dripping water comes out. This hotel shouldn’t be ok ******* because lack of basics such as water electric. Staff at bar specially one guy call
