Upon arriving in Pahalgam from Srinagar, we were bombarded by lowlifes selling us "pony rides." Thinking that this might be a fun way to see this beautiful area, we acquiesced to a "ride" for 5000 rupis for two people for 6 locations, unlimited time. The locations on the poster looked nice. We mounted our sad looking ponies and were led up a road through a sad, impoverished, trash-strewn village, apparently one of the sites. Finally leaving the road, our tired ponies struggled up the rocky garbage strewn path to our next "location," another trashy location called a Tourist Cafe. While we waited for our tea, we were bombarded by the bird guy, who put doves on me, hoping for a photo and cash, the pashmina guy, selling low quality scarves, and some other guys who were just annoying. Then we were led up the trash-strewn trail to a "waterfall." Something akin to a stream with some small cascades, but not a waterfall by any means. There was another "cafe" and trash everywhere. If you're a tea house owner, wouldn't you keep your place clean? It was disgusting. We climbed on the rocks to try for a peaceful moment ***** the stream, but within seconds, the pet-my-bunny guy came by, as well as the guys "volunteers" to take our photos. At this point, we agreed that I was sick and needed to return immediately. This was only one hour in of our tedious tour. The pony whipper, aka guide, initially refused to take us back, but with some serious nausea, I convinced him to return us. Upon our return, we had to deal with the scumbags who refused to honor their "if you don't like it, don't pay" offer. Since we had already paid half up front, we felt no obligation to give them any more money. Then the escalation of harassment commenced. We pointed out that posted the two hour rate was less than we'd already paid, and the ad turned to walk away. They followed us for a while.

Giving this horrible hotel one star is still generous. Right from the beginning, our first hour was terrible. The front desk concierge was so unhelpful and gave us a room on the top floor despite having elderly with disabilities. Then the concierge LOST an copy of our check-in documents, which had VERY important information on it such as our passports and ID cards. Secondly, my family was traveling with elderly. The room my elderly family member was staying in had a nail sticking out of the door frame and my family member just narrowly avoided stepping on it, which would have been disastrous if she had because it would have gone through her foot. Moving on from those two horrid experiences which only happened in the first hour we stepped foot in the hotel, the electricity in our room went off for 5 minutes leaving us in complete darkness. The fridge in the room was leaning out of the cabinet so much it nearly fell on my grandmother. The hotel was insanely dirty and obviously not throughly cleaned. The view from our rooms was abysmal, overlooking traffic and the dirt. The wifi is awful, so awful it took me a half an hour to post this review (despite them claiming having high speed wifi). The rooms are cramped with no AC. The food was so terrible we retreated to another hotel, JUST to have food we actually found edible. After a taxing 8 hour journey, all my family wanted to do was take a simple nap, but we couldn't even do that, due to the loud TRAFFIC noises outside of the window and the sounds of kids screaming outside our door. This experience was so terrible that the minute we could we fled to another hotel and didn't even receive a refund. HORRID HORRID HOTEL and I hope no one else has to experience this. Overall: Bad wifi Bad rooms No AC Terrible service Dangerous to the elderly Horrid food Loud traffic and children screaming Dirty rooms Unstable electricity

The service and the cleanness was superb . The maintenance and the grace of the hotel was excellent. My family enjoyed the delicious food we had for the dinner and the breakfast. The sports they had provided were also good. We get best service in royal Hilton, specially Mr manzoor, thanks again to Mr manzoor.

Brilliant location (on the Mini Switzerland trail) , Close to Market (300-400mtr) , Best Liddr lake view , Comfortable rooms and Good Food. Is a bit pricey, and gets sold out quickly. Staff were courteous. The hotel has an overall feel good atmosphere, and compared to similarly priced Radisson and ITC enjoys better location setting.

I travelled with my family after a long time. I always stay at Royal Hillton whenever I'm at Pahalgam. The hospitality here is simply out of the world, be it the awesome lawns facing Lidder river or the rose garden on the west side of the hotel. The people are amazing, food is simply delicious. No matter what time you enter the restaurant everyone is ready to welcome you. My kids loved pasta in white sauce and chicken roganjosh the most. The only issue we faced here was humid temperature as the A/C is still not in place.
