Hotel Grand'Italia

Padova|0.06km from Padua Central Station
I stayed for 4 nights, booked directly with the hotel for best price, in July 2023, in a single room (no 104). I arrived at about 10 am at the hotel and it was great that the room was ready and I could check in so early in the day, have a shower and then head off to explore Padova. First of all, my room was not a typical single room in an Italian hotel, that is tiny, but a regular one, which was a big plus. The bed was not a double, but not a narrow single bed either, somewhat one in the middle, which was great. The room was properly furnished, if basic. The bathroom was also large by Italian standards, but with a major flaw: the shower was positioned right in the middle of the bathroom, and cordoned off by a plastic shower curtain that was frankly below any standards, not to mention a 4* hotel. Towels were of good quality. I appreciated and used the minibar, safe, AC, TV with decent selection of channels. Both room and bathroom were kept very clean, and the room efficiently serviced every day. Breakfast was good and varied, espresso provided by request. I chose this hotel for my stay in Padua due to its position, right in front of the railway station. It was very useful as I used it as a base to do daily trips by train to Venice and Verona using the fast (RV=Reggio Veloce) and cheap Italian railway (Trenitalia). You can also include Vicenza. Given its proximity to the station there are a lot of less than desirable people hanging around the hotel, mostly immigrants from Africa, but I never felt inconvenienced or threatened in any way. Pay great attention though while in the station while acquiring your train tickets from the automatic ticket machines. The hotel is also very well placed to explore Padova since the tram station for the tram journey to the historic centre, St Anthony’s church (“Il Santo”), and Il Prato is right in front of the hotel. Tram tickets office also just across the street. I was also somehow worried about the noise from the street given that my room was overlooking the main road in front of the station, but the sound insulation was very good, did not have problems with traffic noise. All in all, this is good value for money hotel for exploring Padua, and Veneto at large, I warmly recommend it. If you fly in/ out from Treviso airport (TSF) there is also a direct bus from the bus station located not far from the railway station, at a cheap fare.

Location was initially hard to find, but I saw a sign on the street pointing the right way to go. My directions gave two ways to go. The first involved going uphill and there were bikes whizzing by, so it wasn't very good if you have luggage. The other was flat and went by a bunch of people hanging out in the street. I didn't feel threatened but it isn't the best area in this lovely city. I don't know what it's like after dark. Basically, you take a right at the McDonalds, walk down the street past the Ethnic Market (a larger convenience store where I bought Coke Zeros several times) and follow the street around to the roundabout, take a right and go about 2-3 blocks. Staff was pleasant, helped with a safe issue (a prior occupant had left it locked) and kept their cool when I spilled some Coke Zero on the floor when retrieving my luggage that I had left after checking out. Internet was good, safe was a good size, and breakfast was good in terms of quality and quantity. There is a restaurant in the hotel that was closed Sunday night. We were very tired one night and ate there and we were glad that it was available. There isn't a lot around the hotel but it was a short walk to a nice area that had a lot of restaurants . We also were able to walk to a laundromat in the area as well as all of the tourist attractions. One curious thing about the hotel was that the room numbers were on the carpet instead of being on the door.

Stop for the second time. The room didn't like - the bathroom door didn't open, in the bathroom under the refrigerator - the mini-fridge was missing.Clean. The windows went out to the parking lot. Noisy. Sound isolation suffers. Neighbors were prevented from sleeping at night.

Padova City Center
This characterful hotel in a quiet street in the centre of Padua. Many of the major tourist sites of interest are nearby with the added bonus of being surrounded by little streets with eateries and cafes. The staff were incredibly helpful, way above and beyond that which we might have expected. It was them who really contributed to making this a gem in the heart of Padua.

Beautiful modern structure put out of Padova but comfortable at the station Breakfast excellent at the 12th floor with beautiful view of the city Excellent room cleaning. We had a little injury at the arrival but the ladies at the reception have resolved the problem quickly and with a haircut.

Padova City Center
There is nothing special about this hotel, particularly for such a fascinating city as Padua. Nevertheless, the rooms are clean and spacious, and they have a private balcony. Bring up a bottle of wine and enjoy it ”al fresco” in the privacy of your own room. Though breakfast is included, it's nothing special, and you are better off wandering outside until you hit one of the many local bars. The location, however, is very good. While the street itself is nothing to brag about, it's steps away from the must-see site of the Scrovegni Chapel (painted by Giotto), and minutes from all the other major sites in the city.

The structure is located in a very good location, close to the city centre and also close to the main road arteries. Free to reach and with double parking possibilities: closed in underground garage or outdoor in reserved and overseen area. The hotel has a good bar service, a good restaurant, a beautiful and comfortable hall and a well-provided and free gym for all guests. Excellent experience.
