The previous owner passed away last year. Now this bed and breakfast is not worth staying at for the price we paid of $337 a night. It use to have a wonderful breakfast in the morning. Now it’s just mediocre. We paid a deposit of $337 for one night when we booked. On the drive to the hotel I received a message that they had put the cost of our entire stay on my credit card. When we arrived around 2:30 in the afternoon, the door was locked, and it took forever for someone to let us in. This bed and breakfast has always furnished its room with antique furniture, which gives the rooms some charm. However, since the new ownership furniture was in bad need of repair. We couldn’t even open the antique hutch where you were supposed to hang your clothes. The knob on the hutch was hanging off and the door was crooked and jammed. So our clothes remained in the suitcase. No screens on most of the windows, so bugs and large termites flew in if you wanted fresh air. No air conditioning, just an old heating system. The bottom sheet would not stay on the bed, as they had been washed so many times that the elastic was gone. I have several photos, but not sure I’ll be able to download. For that kind of money per night, there are many other nicer hotels or bed and breakfasts in Pacific Grove and the Monterey area. We definitely won’t be back!!
