Campement île d'Egueye

The 'piroguier' who took us across to Egueye referred to it as 'le paradis'. It is a haven of tranquility in the midst of nature. Peace, calm and beauty are what it's all about. Our room was very comfortable and clean with a spacious ensuite shower room and a delightful terrace with table, chairs and a hammock. The meals were excellent, taken in the large restaurant/bar building. Breakfast was served at the side of the bolong in utter peace, looking at the still water with usually a heron or two and plenty of other birds. Abdou and Anne lead a team of very friendly and attentive staff. Thank you to them! We loved it and would like to think we will return!

This lodge is surrounded by the river arms of the Casamance river, and settled on a beautiful small island with no roads. You are picked up by a ‘piroque’ at a nearby small hamlet. Expect heavenly nature and absolute quietness, be it for the noise of birds. Spacious ground level rooms are nicely decorated and located in separate traditional cabins, equipped with good mosquito nets, bathroom with hot water, and terrace with hammock. The lodge overlooks the river arm, and there is plenty of outdoor seating with grandiose views. WiFi at the central patio where breakfast and dinner is served. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and the kindness of the Senegalese host and his Belgian wife.
