I rarely stay in hotels however I came to Ottawa to celebrate a kilometerstone (milestone for Americans ;-) birthday and decided to splurge a little. I was able to talk a friend into coming with me. I first saw this hotel on TripAdvisor, went to their own website and found I could book 4 nights for $119/nt. I spent about an hour looking around some of the big Internet travel sites and found the exact room promoted on one of them for $89! I called the hotel and asked if they price matched. After about 10min of them looking online to find the promo I was looking at, the shift supervisor approved the match! I had to agree to pay for all 4 nights whether I used them or not. I didn't care because I was coming! The location is GREAT, next to TransCanada/417 highway. That was very convenient as I had to drive to Carp the next morning and that was the highway I used. I was on that expressway 2 minutes after leaving the hotel! Check in was fast and efficient. The person checking me in was confused when I told her I was on a $89 promo, she had not heard about it but eventually found some notes on my reservation in the computer. Even though there was free parking, I wanted to leave the car at the hotel most days and take public transit downtown. I had heard even with the government shut down, parking was scarce and expensive in the city center. On check in I happened to ask how close a bus stop was to take us downtown as I wanted to do the double deck Grayline tour on Sunday and Monday. The desk clerk said I didn't need to take the city bus as the double deck bus picked up their guests every morning at 9am at the hotel! BONUS! I'm glad I asked. Our room was on the fourth floor and included two very comfortable Queen beds with 7” mattresses and fluffy comforters, a very nice bathroom, 40” LCD TV, small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. They also had WiFi that worked great! There was only one ceramic cup and one plastic cup for the first night, we would have liked two ceramic cups but it was too late to call down and ask. Both my friend and I noted how quiet the surroundings were. Almost the entire floor had booked rooms for two nights but we didn't hear much noise. Also, we were on the back side of the hotel not facing the street or highway so that may have contributed to it. If I were to return, I would ask for a first floor room on the same side of the hotel as each had direct access to the parking lot. Although the room was very clean and comfortable, there were not enough electrical plugs and the only available one to plug in my cell phone and computer was so worn out that the cables would not stay in the plug. I always bring extra cables, I had a long extension that ran from near the head of my bed to the table at the other end of the room. Without it, I would not have been able to charge my devices. Easy drive to downtown Ottawa. Enjoyed the very spacious room with tons of counter space and a pull-out table. We stayed at a busy time... it seemed as though there were a few events or conferences going on, so it was difficult to catch an elevator. Still, the convenience to downtown coupled with free and ample parking space made this a stress-free stay for us.

Came to Ottawa to watch a CFL game and would like to add our Argonauts won. Arrived on Sept. 23 and we were not disappointed from the moment we arrived at Hampton Inn. Check in was handled very professionally by Sam. Answered any and all our questions. Not 10 minutes after check in we were about to get on the elevator and the power went out. The staff went into immediate safety protocols. I think the lady in charge was Carol. Checked all floors, placed flashlights and so on. Impressive. Our room was large, nicely decorated and my wife loved the size of the shower. We stayed for 3nights and each morning we enjoyed our breakfast. The two ladies that handle the breakfast…Hilary and Elaine did a great job in keeping the breakfast hot and stocked. As well, they both have a great personality and made our stay even better. We would recommend this hotel to everyone and will be back next time we come to Ottawa.

It's a Comfort Inn, so a bare bones motels. But, during COVID-19 they have gone below bare bones.....which is impressive in itself! Room was clean and had a fridge, microwave, TV, Iron, Iron board, alarm clock, phone, 2 sets of towels, shampoo, conditioner, and moisturizer. Motel authorized $100 on my credit card for ”Amenities”.....LOL...... sorry you have no amenities, say it like it is a ”Damage Deposit”. What has changed is: They have coffee maker in the room, but no coffee. Sorry but not sure how COVID would be spread by making coffee in your room. No hairdryer in the room. The vending machine was almost empty. The air conditioner was HORRIBLE, no more than a fan and during a heat wave, this sucked! Couldn't sleep because it was so hot. No continental breakfast, but they do have a bagged breakfast of orange juice, yogurt and a cheap granola bar. This could be SO much better, there are bagged muffins and fruit that should be in the bag. The motel is within walking distance of the Lone Star restaurant which was great! Overall NOT impressed, and will suggest to the company not to book me here again.

Overall this hotel is of good value with the cleanliness and proximity to downtown Ottawa. The hotel was opened to business in 2019. I redeemed from my Aeroplan for the 2 nights stay, and I paid $25/night for parking. Room - The room itself is clean with quite spacious bathroom. It is equipped with small fridge and there’s a microwave over the counter which is good. Amenities - it has a swimming pool and it’s clean with the adjacent patio and you can go outside which is good. It served complimentary breakfast with good selection of food. Plenty of seatings within the dinning area. Parking - OK but a bit tight in the parking stall however even it’s quite fully booked we are able to find parking. While we stayed I’ve found it interesting cleaning wasn’t done during the first night. The attendant made a mistake to our room and we ended up knocking the wrong room but it was an honest mistake I believed. What I’ve found it interesting though is right across diagonally across is a homeless shelter so just be prepared across the corner of the stress diagonally there’s a homeless shelter and be prepared for that. It didn’t bother me but you may end up having the room view of that depending on where your room is located. I’m sad to see so many of them and especially during the pandemic still seeing them on the street is a hit heartbreaking for me. This is a relatively new hotel and suitable for family and I’d recommend.

The location in the city center is convenient for transportation. There are shopping stores nearby, providing general daily necessities, catering, etc. The living conditions are OK.

We came here for our first wedding anniversary. Parking was easy to find. Our check-in was fast and the young lady who helped us was very friendly. Our room was not very big but it was nice. The air conditioning worked well which was great on a very hot day, and the TV was able to connect to our Netflix account. We had told the hotel that it was our anniversary and they stopped by with a bag with some treats and happy anniversary balloons, which was very nice! There is even a card that a number of the hotel staff signed. The location was great, we were right by the subway so you could hop on to go to the byword market very easily, or it was about a 10-minute walk. We visited for Blues fest and it was also very easy to get there from this hotel. I would stay here again and would recommend this hotel!

I stayed in the cheapest single cell, where the bed just barely fits between the walls.. The mattress was very comfortable. The best place to store your luggage is under the bed. If you have a lot of luggage, shoving it far back under the bed can make it hard to retrieve. You could tie a rope to the bag so you can pull it out. When people are around, there's lots of noise in the cells. My trick for fealing with this is to use a phone with small, comfortable earbuds and an app that makes loud soothing noise -- like a rainstorm. (Many newer phones don't have a socket for earbuds. I bring along an old phone for this; it doesn't need cell service, though you'll need Wi-Fi to download/update a sleep app. I haven't tried iPhones; I use Android, which can be much cheaper.) I'dbbe cautious about wireless earbuds here... if they come out of your ears while you sleep, they could fall off the sides of the bed. (Getting under the bed near the head is not easy!) Wired earbuds are cheap to buy, especially on a site like Amazon with lots of choice (and reviews to help you choose). Maybe it was the size of this large hostel, and the empty halls, that made it feel less welcoming. I like hostels full of life, so I'm not sure I'll be back.

The hotel is simply bad on all counts - cleanliness, sleep quality, unexplainable bill charges. But the main thing for me was that the cleaning staff came into our room when there was a “Privacy Please” sign on our door while we were out. I have been traveling for work since 2005, weekly, and the DND sign was always something that ensures your privacy in any hotel, any country I have been to. The funniest thing is that the hotel declared they would not be cleaning the room for the duration of my stay in the pre-arrival email, which made me happy, and then they still came in to clean it, despite the sign. I called the front desk immediately when I saw it, created a big issue, and they told me that the clean-up was requested and SHEDULED by me. I explained it was impossible and how upset I was, and guess what - NOTHING happened to make things better for us, absolutely nothing. The manager did not call to apologize, there was absolutely no reaction to this, pretty big in my opinion, issue. So yes, hotel folks, if you are reading this – I did bring it to the attention of the staff. Compared to that, the rest was not as outrageous, but still quite bad and generally important to the quality of the stay: - Cleanliness: When we arrived, the toilet seat was dirty, there was pubic hair in the shower and the shower gel dispenser was empty. I did not want anyone in my room, so I sanitized all impacted surfaces, decided to use the little soaps for the showers instead of the gel and moved on. Ironically, when they broke in to clean my room, they still did not fill up the shower gel! That made me laugh when I stopped crying. - Beds: As another review here mentioned, beds are terrible. It is like sleeping on a water bed, you can feel every little movement, and between that and the old pillows, you are lucky if you get any sleep at all. - Room charges: Unlike any other hotel, this one did not send the email with the bill on the morning of the departure. Naturally, after what I have been through there, I decided to check the bill before I leave instead of just leaving like we do. I had booked using points, so my bill was supposed to only have parking charges + tax. However, when I got the print out, there was an additional $38 CAD per night charge just called “Room”, which the front desk could not explain. The further the conversation went, the more defensive the front desk representative got, until eventually they angrily removed the charges. Not even an apology or any sign of regret that there was a mistake, but a whole lot of attitude and pushback on the paying customer who happens to also be a platinum elite at this chain. Still remains to be seen what ends up being on the credit card – I am seeing some strange charges in the ‘pending’ status. Stayed at the Novotel for a week in early Feb 2023 while attending a conference at the nearby Westin. I booked for a really low rate through hotwire. After a pleasant check in I was excited to come into a very large on the 8th floor with a separate seating area and a very large TV. Room was pretty clean although when packing up before check-in I found some items under the bed that did not belong to me. Location was perfect, right across from the Rideau Centre and the Westin/Conference Centre and within a short walk to the Parliament Buildings, Sparks Street and Byward Market. My only compliant is the walls must be paper thin as I could hear the ding of the elevator and conversations in the hall from my room. I was also there a four hour during a power outage in the evening. I assume the outage was unscheduled but there was a lot of confusion and no one at the front desk when it occurred. The hotel shares a building with a DND office which made it confusing leaving the building by the stairs as the stairway lead to a entrance that read ”DND property alarm will sound”, it took awhile to figure out how to exit by the stairs.
