Hotels Near Great Lawn in Ottawa

This was my first-time stay at reStays Ottawa. I booked four suites for a team business trip in April 2023 (2- and 3-night stays). Very glad to have chosen this hotel over my other go-to's! This is now my Ottawa favourite and I highly recommend it for the following reasons: - Value: Great for this calibre of amenities (spacious, new, clean, modern in-suite furnishings, well-equipped kitchen, and thoughtful provisions, terrific meeting spaces, public amenities - what a view on the 12th floor). Comfortable bedding for several nights of good sleep. - Service: Front desk staff (Josh, Mark) were very helpful with our requests. - Location: Excellent! Short walking distance to Parliament, Rideau Centre, Byward Market, etc. Whether for short or longer stays, I highly recommend this gem of a downtown Ottawa hotel.

Pretty nice hotel, we were satisfied with our stay. We were visiting for 4 nights 5 days and took advantage of our complimentary breakfast. Was decent minus the coffee. Wasn’t very good but we are picky with our coffee so pretty minor. Location was great as we could walk to just about everything we wanted to see. Rooms were clean and liked the setup. Staff were friendly and the bartender at the restaurant had a great attitude. (Can’t remember his name sorry) If I had one complaint it would be there’s a bit of a wait for elevators when busy as there’s only two to serve 17 floors. Overall very nice hotel, definitely recommend

The room is large, the facilities are complete and the location is very convenient

The location in the city center is convenient for transportation. There are shopping stores nearby, providing general daily necessities, catering, etc. The living conditions are OK.

Overall this hotel is of good value with the cleanliness and proximity to downtown Ottawa. The hotel was opened to business in 2019. I redeemed from my Aeroplan for the 2 nights stay, and I paid $25/night for parking. Room - The room itself is clean with quite spacious bathroom. It is equipped with small fridge and there’s a microwave over the counter which is good. Amenities - it has a swimming pool and it’s clean with the adjacent patio and you can go outside which is good. It served complimentary breakfast with good selection of food. Plenty of seatings within the dinning area. Parking - OK but a bit tight in the parking stall however even it’s quite fully booked we are able to find parking. While we stayed I’ve found it interesting cleaning wasn’t done during the first night. The attendant made a mistake to our room and we ended up knocking the wrong room but it was an honest mistake I believed. What I’ve found it interesting though is right across diagonally across is a homeless shelter so just be prepared across the corner of the stress diagonally there’s a homeless shelter and be prepared for that. It didn’t bother me but you may end up having the room view of that depending on where your room is located. I’m sad to see so many of them and especially during the pandemic still seeing them on the street is a hit heartbreaking for me. This is a relatively new hotel and suitable for family and I’d recommend.

I rarely stay in hotels however I came to Ottawa to celebrate a kilometerstone (milestone for Americans ;-) birthday and decided to splurge a little. I was able to talk a friend into coming with me. I first saw this hotel on TripAdvisor, went to their own website and found I could book 4 nights for $119/nt. I spent about an hour looking around some of the big Internet travel sites and found the exact room promoted on one of them for $89! I called the hotel and asked if they price matched. After about 10min of them looking online to find the promo I was looking at, the shift supervisor approved the match! I had to agree to pay for all 4 nights whether I used them or not. I didn't care because I was coming! The location is GREAT, next to TransCanada/417 highway. That was very convenient as I had to drive to Carp the next morning and that was the highway I used. I was on that expressway 2 minutes after leaving the hotel! Check in was fast and efficient. The person checking me in was confused when I told her I was on a $89 promo, she had not heard about it but eventually found some notes on my reservation in the computer. Even though there was free parking, I wanted to leave the car at the hotel most days and take public transit downtown. I had heard even with the government shut down, parking was scarce and expensive in the city center. On check in I happened to ask how close a bus stop was to take us downtown as I wanted to do the double deck Grayline tour on Sunday and Monday. The desk clerk said I didn't need to take the city bus as the double deck bus picked up their guests every morning at 9am at the hotel! BONUS! I'm glad I asked. Our room was on the fourth floor and included two very comfortable Queen beds with 7” mattresses and fluffy comforters, a very nice bathroom, 40” LCD TV, small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. They also had WiFi that worked great! There was only one ceramic cup and one plastic cup for the first night, we would have liked two ceramic cups but it was too late to call down and ask. Both my friend and I noted how quiet the surroundings were. Almost the entire floor had booked rooms for two nights but we didn't hear much noise. Also, we were on the back side of the hotel not facing the street or highway so that may have contributed to it. If I were to return, I would ask for a first floor room on the same side of the hotel as each had direct access to the parking lot. Although the room was very clean and comfortable, there were not enough electrical plugs and the only available one to plug in my cell phone and computer was so worn out that the cables would not stay in the plug. I always bring extra cables, I had a long extension that ran from near the head of my bed to the table at the other end of the room. Without it, I would not have been able to charge my devices. Good standard hotel with very friendly and helpful reception staff. If you are driving it is a great solution to visit Ottawa.

I found this hotel by fluke. They gave me an AMAZING rate. I'm a fairly picky person, I was concerned prior to arrival that this property may not be up to my standards. When I arrived, I was greeted with a friendly smile at the desk. Upon entering the room I was impressed. So clean. Didn't smell like stale old cigarette like MANY non smoking hotels still do (i travel, a lot.). There was no old musty smells. Nothing. It was wonderful. Beds were comfy. My only real complaints and they're not even that really, was that the heat/ac unit doesn't know when to shut off on its own, and the bathroom fan was extremely annoying. Other than that I loved my stay so much I have booked the motel twice more for future visits to the capital. It's in a very accessible area, anything you need is a very close proximity. The muffins in the lobby in the morning are moist and fluffy. It's homey and quaint. Felt almost like I was cottaging, but inside the city. I can't say enough amazing things about this place. • The Motel Adam Report (G-town, QC @ Feb. 2022) Cons: icy parking lot; not a kitchenette w/ stovetop for that price ($3,200/month); 2nd door lock sticks a lot, which is obvs dangerous re 🇨🇦 terrorism; washroom cabinet design flaw —＞ no handles + slams shut; handicap bar taking space @ an already too-small shower makes it exceptionally difficult for someone severely disabled to shower @ that too-small washroom; incl. brekky incl. *untoasted* bagels directly from the pkg (w/out even toasters @ the rooms) (!); hotel necessities not accessible for the guests, which should be common Covid practice @ 2022—guests should NOT have to ask; TV remote often didn’t even work (ex. try to adjust volume & the cartoon network appears, repeatedly); temp gauges fluctuate a lot, require frequent adjustment; someone STOLE our DND sign; hotel staff shovelled front walkway loudly @ 8am @ a Sat.; wifi sign-in requested repeatedly & then didn’t work AT ALL 1 day; a different day, all the water was orange (sink, tub, ‘n’ toilet); snowplow beeping loudly & repeatedly @ our parking lot @ 5am @ a Sat.; water @ entire hotel (or city?) went kaput morning day checking out (when we were rushing anyways—disability); key expired day we were checking out before that, when we were rushed, esp b/c of water issue The insisted-upon-by-the-motel-owner-visiting-our-room-w/out-warning-&-even-coming-inside-(!) “cleaning” EVERY DAY W/OUT EXCEPTIONS: put 2 dirty towels there + NO soap (took ours w/out stocking) + ignored our simple safety/disability request re *not* uncovering the window (but crumpled the note it was on); then it was done inappropriately differently each day, often taking our soap w/out replacing it + putting both toilet seats UP; had to go no matter what—even day experiencing intense disability flareups; stole at least both soap & Kleenex instead of stocking those; tossed our note once; evidence of our stuff being touched for NO reason; our DND sign was stuck to the wall using our post-its once, suggesting a more personal B&E; evidence of our stuff being stolen, including from the fridge—so we stuck a “do not open” sign there & then the motel cleaning staff put a long, curly hair in there… Pros: motels are preferable re not requiring a mask (‘cept @ lobby of course) + less crowding; windows easy enough to cover sufficiently & door easy enough to wedge closed; microwave; decent shower water pressure; toilet doesn’t break (til day before we relocated); dressing area

I loved this hotel! A little off the beaten path, but worth it due to good pricing and proximity to Tanger Outlets and the highway. I've visited twice now and will be sure to book again when needed. Pros: Rooms are a very decent size, and the hotel just opened recently as of this review, so everything is gleaming clean and new. The beds are very comfortable, and the bathrooms are lovely. Cons: The TV could be a little larger, and I'm sad that despite marketing materials to the contrary, we weren't able to connect the TV through my YouTube account as I have been able to do at other hotels, but it was a small disappointment compared to the pros. My largest concern is how quickly the right-hand elevator door closes without warning; it bashed me a good one as I was walking in , and while I can take it.and brush that off, had that been a small child they could have been seriously hurt. Please get that checked out. In summary, I will recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a clean, quiet, recently priced place to stay while visiting Kanata 😁
