Otsu Hotels with Wi-Fi

The Prince Hotel in Biwako is a place where a traveler can relax entirely. The lake-view room is nowhere one can compare. I feel owning the whole lake scene when sitting by the wide picturistic window from the 11th floor and sipping a cup of green tea. From frontdesk to suttle bus drivers, all staff speak English and are so helpful. The suttle service running twice an hour betwwen the hotel and the train station is a saving of taxi fare. The lobby at the entrance is so spaciously open that one can sit in an armchair at a corner and will not feel uncomfortable albeit facing a big group of travelers around. I will stay here again when I visit Kansai area next time. James

The room faces Lake Biwa and is quite beautiful. The area is quite large for Japan. The bed is comfortable. I slept on the tatami for many days. It feels great to lie on the big bed. The hot spring is also very good. My skin will be smooth after soaking. It would be better if they can provide ice milk. The pick-up bus is very convenient I booked a hotel with dinner included. The buffet provided for dinner did not have many varieties. There was not even a seafood sashimi. The beef place provided mediocre food and the Western pastry was pretty good.

I booked an executive room with an independent open hot spring and a halal menu. The spacious room has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lake. The dinner is a lot of dishes and delicious! From steamed crabs to thinly sliced beef, you will definitely have a range of cuisines to choose from. I plan to do it again next winter.

Came here with family during the Sakura season. It's easy to get to the onset hotel. After arriving at the Ogoto Onsen JR station, towards the south exit you will find a cell phone attached to a board with explanation how to use the phone to call one of the onsen hotels. After the call, their shuttle bus will then come and pick you up between 2pm to 6pm I think. The hotel staff in general are very welcoming. Our family scored a deal with their penthouse suite with private indoor and outdoor onsen. Four of us stayed in the suite and the price is only slightly more than four of us staying in 2 regular rooms. It also came with a beautiful fruit platter for you to enjoy. The suite is very spacious with 2 separate toilets. The bath area has 2 sinks, a shower stall as well as a japanese style bathing area connected to the 2 onsen baths (indoor one is a hinoki wood tub and the outdoor one is a stone one. The outdoor onsen does have a slight privacy issue as there are some residential buildings in a distance. While my mom was a bit too modest to use the outdoor one (which I am not and fully enjoyed it), she did take full advantage of the indoor private onsen. Of course the hotel also has a public onsen for the guests. In fact they have two. One in each towers. I used the one on the top floor in the morning and it was a bless seeing the sunrise while soaking in the hot onsen water. Our package also included both dinner and breakfast that were served at their private dining room. Both meals were done in kaiseki style. We were particularly impressed by their dinner. Not only was it cooked with high quality ingredients and with beautiful presentation, they did not skimp on the quantity as well. Often after eating dinner at other onsen hotel, I would not feel full and actually felt a bit hungry later at night, at Yumotokan the courses kept coming and I was completely stuffed at the end. In fact I did not finish the rice even though it was so yummy (cooked from scratch in front of us with a flamed mini-stove). All in all, a very satisfactory experience. I can recommend anyone who comes to Kyoto/Osaka and wants an excursion and experiences the traditional Japanese onsen.

When visiting Kyoto, we wanted to enjoy some time in an onsen resort so we decided to spend two nights in Ogoto Onsen. After checking the details in their website, we booked a ”Biwa no kaze”room with private onsen and view of Lake Biwako. And we were not disappointed. The room looks newly renovated, and is very spacious with two beds and sitting area plus a tatami room. They offer different dinner packages, and we have chosen crab with steak as the main dishes for the first night, and lobster with shabu-shabu the second night. The foods were of very high quality, tasted and looked very nice. The breakfast buffet was very good with a wide selection of different items. The ryokan is excellent in nearly all aspects. We would stay here again when we next visit Kyoto.

Breakfast changed from Viking as a countermeasure against corona virus. Freely take stuffed and eat in the room or eating space. No takeout from the hotel.

The location is located on the height of Yamate in Yukoto Onsen hot spring, and there is an entrance from the national route to the back street, so if you don't pay attention, you will pass by. The lunch you received was a Japanese dish with a small pot. I felt so much because I heard that there were many dishes that were served a little bit on a small vessel, and it was a popular course for women. However, there was an impression that the small bowl dishes had many things to make, and it was said that this area was suitable for the price. After lunch, the next bath. The black clothes male staff at the front desk gave us a guide to the public bath. The bath consists of a large inner bath and an open air surrounded by a wall, a sauna for ４～５ people, and the hot water is wet overall. I think the quality of the spring is weak alkaline spring, but it seems to be a hot water that can feel a little wet. The facility was very beautiful, the lower part of the capsule was giggling, but it was quiet, not cold, not hot, and I slept well. The note says that you can't use your phone, but if you don't hear the sound, the Internet is good. When I was in the common space, the men and women in the smoking area were making a fuss. (Unisex?) It's nice to have fun talking, but the fuss wasn't suitable. The washroom was crowded in the morning. There were only 4 and I felt that it was too small to make up. I thought it would be nice if the pajamas were one size larger. The locker is thin and only shoes fit. In the morning, when I was packing, a man suddenly entered the women's bed space and was surprised. I wanted you to knock on the door and say ”I'll go!” without opening it.

Since it is directly connected to the south exit of JR Otsu Station, I used it for work that involved taking the train. I didn't feel any inconvenience even though I was built at the south exit, where the houses were spread out, because I could use the nearby underground passage to go to the north exit where there are shops and convenience stores. It's a typical city hotel and the rooms aren't very large, but I appreciate that they have separate shampoo and conditioner, and that they have coffee service that you can take back to your room.
