"Pay attention to the double bed room, the price difference between single occupancy and double occupancy is relatively large, and others are very good."
"The location is close to Xiongqin Port of Lake Bipa, making it convenient to visit the lake and enjoy the scenery. Omi beef A5 grade Wagyu beef melts in your mouth, is delicious and great value for money. While soaking in the outdoor hot springs, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lake Biwa."

"I visited with my family on weekdays during the summer vacation. It was close to the beach of Maiko Omi and the supermarket was relatively close, so I didn't have any problems. 2 F Terrace barbecue facilities were also colored 々, and it was okay to use the tools I brought. The children seemed to be very enjoyable, such as karaoke, table tennis, and tagging in a large indoor, and there were two large baths and the efficiency was good. In addition, each room had a unit bath, a large dining room, and a kitchen, so I was able to spend a very comfortable time. After checking out, I enjoyed it at the nearby Lake Biwa Valley and then came home. I would like to use it again."

"I really like this house~ The design and decoration of the house is very Japanese and fashionable. There are many things. It may look messy, but those who choose to live here should not care too much about it. After all, it’s here. For these messy hand-made decorations~! In the room and in the small cafe below, most of them are made by One Piece. The workmanship is exquisite and the styles are many. When the decoration is suitable. On the first night of staying, I didn’t go out to play. It took a long time to take pictures in the house to see the figures. Ahaha~ quite satisfied~!"
"I was able to spend a relaxing time in a quiet environment. Also, the open-air bath in the sake barrel was the best. I had good memories of staying with a dog."

Outstanding
GGuest UserVery clean with nice view and comfortable accommodation. Buffet breakfast is very yummy and offer a variety of different dishes for the guest. Free carpark is well done and allow you in and out at anytime during your stay. Will stay in this hotel next time for sure.
GGuest UserThe room was very clean and the staff was very welcoming! I feel that the problem with all this kind of houses is that the sound insulation is not very good, you can hear the conversations of the people next door and they face the street. The faucet in the shower room had been left for a long time and there was no hot water. But I still recommend this place. It feels very comfortable and the breakfast is delicious! ! It would be great if you stayed for two days or more, you can have a good visit here! Hope to stay again next time~
AAnonymous UserIt was a great stay at this ryokan! The hotel is able to arrange a car to fetch you from the JR station. You can call them using a dedicated phone at the station which is used to contact the different ryokans. The car arrived in 10mins or so. The ride to the ryokan was also less than 10mins. The hotel also fetched us to the station on the last day of our stay.
The ryokan itself is homely and cozy. We were greeted by an english speaking staff who introduced us to the amenities of the ryokan. There was also a nice welcome tea and matcha chocolate. Our bags were brought to our room as well during this time.
The room is spacious and cozy. The hotel prepared 2 welcome biscuits in the room which was a nice personal touch. The room has a nice living room and a great view of Lake Biwa. Recommend to catch the sunrise over the lake! There are 2 normal beds as well as futon beds (need to set up yourself). Both are comfortable. The hotel also prepared pretty yukata for both female and male guests which you can wear during the stay. There are 4 different designs for ladies, and one design for the guys. You can request for different size if the one in the room doesn’t fit you. There is also a full length mirror and a mini dressing area at the side of the living room. It was fun dressing up in the yukata!
The toilet, basin, shower and hot tub areas are all separate. The toilet is a little small, but the basin and mirror area is very spacious. The shower area is quite small as well and the shower head is rather low so you need to hold the shower head if you wish to wash up while standing. There is a small stool given for you to sit down though. The hot tub area is semi-outdoor and you can see Lake Biwa. But it is quite small (only good for one person). It was too cold so we didn’t use the hot tub.
Instead, we booked the private onsen for 50mins. The private onsen has a private toilet and dressing area which is equipped with hairdryer, body lotion etc. There is a water dispenser as well if you need to hydrate yourself. The onsen area has a washing area, and the hot tub area is spacious for 2 person. There are privacy screens around the onsen area but there is a small gap to let in cold air for ventilation. Wish there is a good view from the private onsen but it was still enjoyable!
Dinner and breakfast was Kaiseki style, and the meals were one of the highlights for my husband and I. We really enjoyed the courses which are clean tasting yet wholesome, fresh and flavourful. It was such a sumptuous treat!
The ryokan also has a souvenir shop if you wish to buy anything back.
Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed the stay here and we agreed this was one of the main highlights of our 12 days trip in Japan. Highly recommend!
TTzuu YihLocation of the hotel is very convenient. It is 5-10 min walk from JR Otsu station which is only 2 stop away from JR Kyoto which costs about 200 yen. The room is clean and quiet but it is a bit tight for 2 mid size luggages (to open simultaneously) but still manageable. Hotel comes with full Japanese breakfast and has coin operated laundry (200yen) and dryer (free). We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone who don't mind staying out of Kyoto.
LLi FangThis is my second time at Biwako Ryokusuitei. My husband and I first stayed there in 2022 and we were so impressed with the service that we brought our family there again in 2024. We really enjoyed the convenience of bathing in the onsen in our room and the dinner and breakfast was as superb as we remembered it.
Special mention goes to the kind driver who sent us to Sakamoto Cable Car when we checked out. He went out of his way to bring us to the train station to check whether there were any empty lockers available for our hand luggages and tried his best to communicate with us in English to recommend places to go and restaurants to try. His kindness and joviality stayed with us until we returned to Singapore and is something that we still talk about today.
Thank you to everyone at the Ryokan for making it a memorable trip for my family and I!
RREFTZ**Breathtaking Views**
The hotel offers stunning views of Lake Biwa, Japan’s largest freshwater lake. My room featured panoramic vistas of the tranquil waters and surrounding mountains, especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset.
**Comfortable Accommodations**
The spacious accommodations blended traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern comforts. The cozy futon bedding ensured a restful night’s sleep, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
**Delicious Dining Options**
Dining was a highlight, with a breakfast buffet that included a delightful mix of Japanese and Western dishes, emphasizing local ingredients. Fresh seafood and seasonal fruits made each meal enjoyable.
**Excellent Location and Amenities**
Located in Otsu, the hotel is perfectly situated for exploring the area. It offers free parking for guests and complimentary bike rentals, making it easy to explore the scenic lakeside paths and nearby attractions. The staff were incredibly helpful, providing recommendations for local sights, such as the historic Enryaku-ji Temple.
Lake Biwa Hotel is a fantastic choice for a peaceful getaway. With stunning views, comfortable accommodations, and great amenities, I highly recommend it for a relaxing escape.
GGuest UserI would have said that we had a wonderful stay: loved the peaceful environment, the food, the morning service…. But then they started the morning with a team of workers going through the temple grounds with deafening leaf blowing machines! Why do they disturb the peace like this? The temple claims to be environmentally conscious, but these machines are noisy, irritating, wasteful and bad for the environment. It made me leave the place in a bed mood.
AAnhuiThe cheap price has its reasons, it is equivalent to the domestic Super 8. It is quite convenient to shop and take a bus around. One step to the countryside, one step to the bustling city, one step to the mountain, and one step to the boat. If a person is tired of the hustle and bustle of the city and wants to hide occasionally, this is still a good choice. After all, it is absolutely affordable to live here in seclusion for a month or two in Japan.
RRoger MichaelOk. First of all leave your expectations at home expecting hotel level service. Once you've done that if you want a cheap but clean place to stay this is it. This is a seinenkan - a facility for youth and youth-related organizations to conduct independent study and recreational activities, many of which have basic accommodation facilities but higher grade facilities than youth hostels. They are located all over Japan. I stayed in a tatami mat room on a floor with shared toilet facilities. The ground floor has a large communal bath - obviously separate for male and females. They have lights out at 11 p.m. and guests must return by the same time. There is a very modern cafe onsite serving cheap breakfasts (see photos) but the cafe closes by 6 p.m. There is a convenience store 10 minutes walk away so I suggest you buy snacks and beverages en route from JR Ishiyama station. For dinner, there is a family restaurant - good value and okay food - about 6 minutes walk away.
The seinenkan is located on a small island by a historic bridge. The views of the river inlet flowing into the main Lake Biwa is relaxing, lots of bird wildlife, and lots of rowers (the seinenkan is a water sports facility too). and the sunrise and sunset views are lovely.
The staff are very kind. It cost me ¥5,500 for one night and I will stay there again if I have the opportunity.
