Saturday night stay. We checked in quite late, 7.45pm, but this wasn't a problem as we were shown to our room by host John. Nice clean and tidy room with comfy bed. We quickly changed and headed down to the bar to be served by...... John. There were a few in the bar but certainly not full. We had a quick chat with John and we quickly realised that he was working alone and had been since opening at midday. We had a couple of drinks before having a wander around Otley. We returned for a nightcap and yes John was still serving, glass collecting, clearing tables etc. All with a smile. This man deserves a medal and the owners of this pub have a jewel working for them. He made our stay so worthwhile, Thank You John

Last evening all four of us enjoyed such a lovely dinner here. The food quality was excellent as was the service. Chef Patrick and the kitchen staff - thank you so much for the superbly prepared food!

Room are up several sets of stairs, on the plus side there's no noise from the downstairs pub (they have music on Thursdays). There's a second exit to the rear car-park, although the hotel has only 4 spaces it backs onto the large North Parade car park. The location is close by the river which has a nice bank-side walk and it's within walking distance of everything else in Otley. I can't comment on the dinner as the chef was on maternity leave and evening meals were 'off' but the cooked breakfast was fine and the range of beers and ales in the bar was good. Rooms are comfortable but quite small, from memory there's 4 or 5 in what seems to be loft conversion. My room was shower only via an instant electric heater which was actually OK. Other facilities in the room were fine, with a small desk, kettle, wardrobe etc. An annoyance was the room doors are on automatic closers, probably for fire regs, and other guests did let them slam shut. I'm sure closers can be adjusted so avoid that! WiFi was OK, but they were having some problems when I was there, maybe linked to the till not accepting credit cards. I paid via *********** to resolve that. All in all, I thought decent value and really nothing startling to complain about.

Room was lovely and clean. Breakfast was good and the service was great and very friendly. I have a feeling the rooms could be very hot in the height of summer and it would be noisy with the windows open as it is a busy road outside. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Staff Warm and friendly. However planned to have an evening meal but chef on maternity leave. This morning the manager overlaid and we were locked on our floor (we had to leave by the fire escape). Eventually got our breakfast an hour later. Would we stay again? A big fat NO!!

I stayed at the Horse and Farrier, on a bitterly cold night in March. The pub was really busy when I arrived and I was a bit disappointed to be told that they weren`t serving food, as I didn`t particularly want to venture back out again into the cold ! However, the radiators in my room had been turned up prior to my arrival. so the room was toasty warm, which was a nice touch. My room was spot on, comfortable, spotlessly clean, with a modern bathroom and a power shower. You couldn`t hear a single noise from the pub downstairs, in fact there was no noise at all, so I slept like a log. The lads behind the bar, who doubled up as the receptionists, were really friendly and gave me a list of local places to eat, in lieu of the food being off. ( I ate at a local pizza place ) I`d happily stay at the Horse and Farrier again and it`s well worth the money they charge.
