We stayed at Hostel Riviera-Sucre for 3 nights in the room with private patio. The room was very large and separate from the main, historic building, and quiet at night. We had no problem getting hot water. It’s walking distance to the textile market and restaurants, but on a fairly quiet street. The hostel has been in the family for 6 generations, and the owner, Freddy, and staff, including Cecil, Edison, and Nathan, made sure that we were comfortable (despite the power outages), and went above and beyond to serve a homey breakfast, introduce us to local fruits from the garden, lighting a fire in the sitting room at night, and helping us navigate getting around Otavalo and beyond.
