We loved the feel of this hotel. It is very quaint and had adorable common areas for relaxing outside of the rooms. I loved the decor, the fireplace, and the breakfast in the morning. The room and bathroom were spacious. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at Hostel Riviera-Sucre for 3 nights in the room with private patio. The room was very large and separate from the main, historic building, and quiet at night. We had no problem getting hot water. It’s walking distance to the textile market and restaurants, but on a fairly quiet street. The hostel has been in the family for 6 generations, and the owner, Freddy, and staff, including Cecil, Edison, and Nathan, made sure that we were comfortable (despite the power outages), and went above and beyond to serve a homey breakfast, introduce us to local fruits from the garden, lighting a fire in the sitting room at night, and helping us navigate getting around Otavalo and beyond.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as part of an organised tour. The communal areas are more of what you'd expect in a hostel, but the rooms were definitely more like a hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and most of them spoke good English. The wifi was pretty good in all areas. The communal areas were lovely, there was a courtyard in the middle and some enclosed gardens. It felt like a haven in the middle of the city. My room was a good size, there was an entrance way almost like a foyer, with the bedroom and bathroom coming off that. The bed was large and comfortable with lots of layers as it does get cold in Otavalo at night. I don't think the hotel had central heating, but there was a portable heater in my room. The bathroom was ok, the door was in an awkward position but it was workable. There was a shower but no bath tub, the hot water was mostly ok. Breakfast was simple but sufficient. There was tea and coffee, nice bread rolls with butter and jam, juice, and they asked you how you wanted your eggs (you could have fruit if you didn't want eggs). I got laundry done during my stay, it was cheap and done well. Overall a great stay, it's definitely not luxurious but very quaint and charming, has a good location in the city centre but still manages to be very quiet at night.

A lovely hotel with joyful, friendly, helpful and caring staff with green surroundings. It’s so nice to be in a garden in the middle of the city. You can also eat breakfast in the garden or on a terrace if you wish to do so. Paolina speaks very good English. The rest of the staff speak basic English and information is not always understood. Staff also know the area well and can advise you well on how to organize trips, how long it takes to climb mountains, etc. Breakfast is ok and will fill you up for the rest of the day. We didn’t like getting charged for extra eggs without any warning. Rooms are a bit old but this goes with the style. Very pretty environment. Lovely inner courtyard with some swings. Common room with games and fridge. Water dispenser in main hall.

From the street outside you are looking at a slightly boutique old building. The frontage is older original as are some rooms in the main building and the common areas, then the more modern extension in the garden becomes apparent. Our room in the garden area was large and clean with a pleasant outlook, nice outside seating area and equipped with all the usual resources and heater if required and good WiFi. Parking on the road outside is OK although they prefer you to use their secure locked compound 400m away. Breakfast was fruit juice, bread, butter and jam, eggs to choice, a fruit bowl with yoghurt with tea or coffee. Enough of a choice to start the day. With very nice helpful family staff it is a good choice for Otavalo being just five minutes walk from the market with decent restaurants nearby.

We had the room 20 which has it's own private terrasse with a view on the C volcano (it was very cloudy so we did not see it entirely but still...). We were very impressed with this. The room was very clean and warm and the bed was extremely comfortable. Fredy was very accomodating also and agreed to keep our luggage for the day after the checkout since we left for the airport at n=ight around 7 pm. We could also use a shower just before leaving at night, which was a nice touch. The staff (2 young men) and Freddy were all very nice and made us feel at ease. You can't go wrong with this hotel. It was recommended to us by our driver and we would come back for sure. The shower in our room functionned awckwadrly and we lacked hot water for a couple of minutes each time but overall not a big deal. Also there was not fruits served for breakfast which was a bit disapointing but the fresh juice was excellent so again, not a big deal.
