The Wynnstay Hotel, Oswestry, Shropshire

What a beautiful location. From the moment we arrived and greated by the fabulous Lucie at reception, we felt so welcomed. We settled into our rooms, freshened up, and decided to have drinks in the bar before our evening meal. The food and service from chloe were outstanding. Followed by more drinks in the bar. After a great night, sleep in our king-size bed, and we came down for breakfast. Help yourself fruit, Yoghurts, juice, and pastries. Claudia came to take our order for cooked breakfast. It's so fresh and amazing. Her level of service was outstanding, remembering our drink order from the day before, also remembering the little things like my mum likes her bacon crispy and my dad has an allergy to egg. Sunday evening drinks in the bar were quieter than Saturday, which allowed Chris the Manager to sit and have a chat with us, learning more about him and his wonderful team. Adding the personal touch to our visit. We can't wait to come back soon.

We have family in the area in conseqence have stayed at the Wynnstay manyl times. It's a traditional family style hotel rather than 'corporate'. We like that plus it's well located in central Oswestry. The rooms are v good and the updated dining room, bar and Wlisons Bar (next door) are first rate. Friendly and professional staff with free parking and plenty of it make it the place to stay. Recommended

We stayed with a group of friends on a classic car run for two nights. Staff very helpful. Good food, though portions rather too large for us. Had problem with television in room, could not receive BBC1 and 2. But managed using BBCiPlayer. Staff tried very hard to sort our problem. Very attractive decor. Everything very clean. Would recommend this hotel to friends.

Wonderful stay at the Oswestry Wynstay hotel in May. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and able to answer all my queries during my stay. Evening meal ( roast beef) and breakfast (full English) both delicious and very filling. Bedroom lovely, well stocked with necessary items and bed very comfortable.

We have a dear friend in Oswestry. She and her husband were the managers of the hotel for many years. The updating and restoration have been done beautifully so that The Wynnstay has all the history and charm of a historic English inn with the modern conveniences like a great bathroom with a walk in shower that make for safety and ease. Well done!

The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a meal in the restaurant and the food was great! Breakfast was very good too! Our only problem was being woken up by the emptying of bins early in the morning! Not sure if it happens every day or we were just unlucky to be staying on bin day!

For of us stayed at the hotel for my grandma’s 91st. It was such a pleasant, relaxing and incredibly friendly stay. The rooms were very nicely decorated, bathrooms were incredibly clean and showers were nice and big. My grandma had a “balcony”, but this was much bigger than we thought and was more like a patio which overlooked the green. The food was fantastic and incredibly tasty. I have diet issues, however this was not an issue for the staff at all. Silkie served us the first night and she was so professional and helpful. We also had the pleasure of chatting to Sophie and also the manager, Chris. There were obviously other staff, but I didn’t catch all their names. Everyone was so lovely and friendly. We will definitely be coming back. The only downside we had was that the rooms were incredibly hot. My husband and I had 2 fans in our room, but we couldn’t plug them next to our beds as the plugs were slightly different to the sockets. And this did cause us to not sleep very well at all. However we didn’t actually mention this to staff as we were able to open the windows to help circulate the air more.

Highly recommend this hotel. It was a find in 2023 for me and glad to go back again in 2024 with friends to share the experience. The staff are great, making sure your stay is as expected and going out of their way to ensure everything is covered and taken care of. Food is amazing, the wine choices compliment the food perfectly and I could have stayed the week, although my waist line would not have thanked me. Cannot wait to return again at the earliest opportunity.
