The St. Regis Osaka

Osaka Station/Umeda/Yodoyabashi/Hommachi Osaka|0.47km from Yuki Museum of Art
Concierge: We emailed the hotel weeks in advance of our stay to assist with bookings. Weeks would pass before they would respond, and multiple follow up emails were required to get a response. They did successfully book one 3 Michelin star restaurant to which we owe them significant credit. However, when we arrived and asked basic requests such as where to find restaurants or stores, the concierge was usually very short and had no suggestions. We were better off consulting Google maps. And this for a 5 star concierge service? In addition, the English skills of many of the concierge staff were extremely limited. While I know some Japanese, it should not be required at a hotel of this calibre. In fact, when visiting Japan, a 5 star hotel should have fluent English speakers for most front facing staff. Hotel Condition: The hotel has significant and noticeable wear and tear. We were in a Grand Deluxe Suite and when I arrived, a man was literally gluing on a piece of the door that had torn off. The woodwork throughout the suite was heavily scratched and dented including tables. The carpet was worn thin, and the sofa's velvet exterior was worn. In any event, for a hotel suite whose copay was $500+ per night, this was disappointing. Check out Process: The check out process was extremely troubling and disappointing. We asked for a Butler to assist with bags multiple times, and even after 45 minutes they did not come up to our room to collect our bags. This resulted in us having to drag our bags down to the lobby ourselves, as we were rushing for a Shinkansen train. Normally, this would have been fine, but we had a lot of luggage. The significantly wait time for luggage assistance is not characteristic of a St. Regis. Hidden Taxes and No Final Folio Provided: The hotel has some hidden taxes associated with rooms that have copays for upgrades. While we expected to pay 50,000 yen per night + about 37,000 yen in total taxes (about 5600 yen per night in tax), we did not expect too many additional taxes. Yet there was another 6500 or so taxes per night in taxes we were assessed. Even after numerous attempts, the hotel never sent a final folio nor explained the charges which is all I asked. General Impressions: The hotel seems poorly managed with a ”choatic” vibe in which there is not only no personalized guests are vying for the attention for concierge staff who are stretched too thin with minimal English skills. While I understand this is a busy time for the hotel, the hotel should not be having any difficulty meeting basic demands of elite members even when they are at capacity. The hotel felt more like a 3-4 star hotel than a St. Regis. Among St. Regis hotels, this one was a major disappointment.

There are 3 people at the front desk and 3 automatic payment machines. I was able to check in with plenty of time because I entered early, but I think it took longer than usual due to the procedures and explanations of regional coupons during national travel support. When I looked back, the waiting customers were lined up before I knew it, but they kindly explained it and asked me to answer the questions. I am grateful to the lady at the front desk who was in charge. The room is Hollywood. Twin cleaning was beautiful, so I was relieved. Since it was renewed, the equipment is new. A wide table that can be expanded and work with a PC Semi-separated (by bath and toilet) ← This is the first condition when deciding a hotel. I thought there was a washroom and I wanted it, but shampoos are placed on the edge of the bathtub. There is no shelf in the shower, no chairs and tubs. When used on the floor they said it was hard to use. I don't have a laundry hook, and I put it in a gap next to the bathtub, such as a towel, a brush, or a shower, and I wondered if there was such a place until now. Anyway, the bath is difficult to use. I thought, but I got a lot of delicious food at breakfast ^^ Is there a place where Chawanmushi is served for breakfast? I was disappointed that the dashi roll I was looking forward to was a time-consuming item or a date. It was good enough to search for a shop after I got home. Most of the ”Shokusai Kenmi Nono Grape” branches? It's also in the hotel. I'm thinking about choosing the next hotel. The staff 々 all felt good. The breakfast venue was good here. Thank you.

Prince Smart Inn Osaka Yodoyabashi

Very small room, had problem opening our two large suitcases. Toilet is ok not too small, washers and dryers available. Very good location, just a stone’s throw away from two exits of Yodoyabashi station, in which one has elevator access. Family mart and supermarket nearby too. Located in a very safe and peaceful area, which is a blessing. Overall worth for its price.

This hotel was the best I stayed in while I was in Japan. The room was quite spacious, had a proper wardrobe (not just hangers), a safe that was built in the desk and a small fridge. The bathroom had a decent size, it had a separate bath and a shower. The bed was a little bit hard for me but that's just personal preference. I still had very good two nights' sleep there. The lobby was nice and the staff were very friendly and they all spoke English. Bottled water was provided in the lobby. Check in was smooth and effective, check out was even faster. They let me store my luggage after checking out which was great, so I could max out my time in Osaka without worrying about my luggages. 7eleven was literally accross the street. The hotel was located only a few min walk from different metro/train stations, it was very easy to get there and going to different locations by public transport. If I go back to Osaka, I will definitely stay at Hotel Brighton City Osaka.

It was a smoking room, so I was worried about the smell when I entered, but I was able to stay cheaply, so there is no problem. The staff was also polite. I was personally grateful that I was able to charge a lot.

It was just the New Year in Japan and the surrounding area was very quiet. The location is very good for people who don't shop, suitable for Kyoto. Stay away from the tour group. Walk about 7 minutes according to the navigation subway. There is a home 711 opposite the hotel. There is also a pine house nearby to eat, very affordable. Breakfast has bread, rice balls, side dishes, miso soup, drinks. No problem to eat if you are not picky. After all, you can save a breakfast money 😁. The room is small, but it is complete, and it is good in Japan. The hotel is not allowed to be in the room from 10 to 16 every day. When you go out, give the key back to the front desk, and report the room number directly when you come back.

The facilities and facilities are new, there is a GOTO travel, and the accommodation fee is low, so I want to be highly appreciated, but it is the first time to use it, and it is very regrettable, and it cannot be highly appreciated. (There is a microwave oven in the room, but there is no shared ice dispenser, etc., unbalanced) This neighborhood is lined up properly, because the road is lined up vertically and horizontally, from the subway station, It took time to get there. I passed through the signal crossing immediately, and I could hardly see the signboard, so I passed. The signboard of TY Inn is flashy, so it enters the eye. I called the hotel and walked from the subway station and visited ”TY inn is nearby because I can see it” and asked, ”what store is it?” Just see the signboard, you can't know what store. Not far from TY inn, as if you can't read the air. This is low level!! I can evaluate that the signboard is not flashy, but on the other hand, there should be many such inquiries.Even if I finally arrive, I don't feel hospitality at all, and I don't feel good. I'm sorry for the dryness, but I need to reeducate my employees. This is a frank opinion.

Fantastic location - 20 minutes walk south to Shinsaibashi with all the amazing food and little shops. 20 minutes walk north to Umeda with more ‘proper’ restaurants. Service was great - housekeeping and reception desk were fantastic and polite, really helpful with just everything, be it luggage, calling a restaurant to check availability or heating up food from the markets. Room was clean, no issues with anything. Heads-up: bring a power board if there’s more than one traveler due to lack of power outlets in the room - only had one easily accessible.
