Guest House Liz Nakazaki-Cho

Family of four stay A lovely apartment, conveniently located for subway use and bars and restaurants. We walked to it from Umeda station, after getting the Shinkansen to Shin-Osaka from Khoto, which is close to the city centre, past some nice shopping and eating areas. We stayed here for for the reason of travelling to Universal Studios. Temma subway station is about 12 minutes walk (with a 9 & 7 year old). However, on the return journey at night time, we had to walk past the lady bars and ******* with some choice clientèle and services around. (Bear this in mind if with young children, mine didn't notice!) Also close by is an outdoor playpark, next to Kids Plaza which my children loved! Discounted tickets from 14:00 onwards: it closes at 17:00 and this is more than enough time. It is also close to Osaka imperial castle.

Guest House instead of a Hotel Generally a good experience! We got the feeling of a genuine japanese apartment. For a longer stay I might have been put off by the fact that there is no real food/dinner place to sit and eat. There is a low living room table with couches on both sides in the middle of the living room which is also in the middle of the apartment- you often need to pass this area. But it is ok for family breakfast. The overall cleaning of floor, bedroom, kitchen, toilette and shower was good, but someone might need to spend some time dusting off the decorations and details. The big closets in the bedroom was really good to hide bags, but I don't know why there was a super dusty floor lamp tucked away there? The AC was working fine and there is a extra floor fan to use (July =hot weather). Another thought; you should have some kind of explanation/instructions on the hot water system. We had already spent 2 weeks in Japan so I knew how it worked, but if I would have come straight from Europe it would be much harder - especially since every thing is in Japanese. The subway track outside the house is not optimal but it works to sleep with earplugs. Also remember to shut the window in the bathroom before evening, otherwise the restaurant cooking fumes will come in. A bonus is that a gentle soul left an converter from japanese electrical socket to eu socket with extensioncord and 3 european outlets. Yay! Generally I recommend this guest house to those willing to live closer to the local standard!
