Umeda Osaka|0.4km from BIRKENSTOCK
Where do I begin with the problems? This may seem centrally located, but it is still quite a hike from Osaka Station, especially with bags. As other travelers have noted, the entrance is fairly well hidden, we got lucky and walked in the right door and figured out where to go the first time, but that was just dumb luck. The area was the most seedy place I have been anywhere in Japan. There was trash on the streets, and loud fights going on practically everywhere. Had to push our way past the drunks on the way in and the way out. Staff took FOREVER to do check in and couldn't seem to find our reservation and yes, then it cost a bit more for no appreciable reason. Luggage storage area simply a roped off area in the tiny check in room (anybody could make off with your luggage and nobody would know the difference). We asked for two keys because there were two of us and got major static, but eventually our two keys. Elevator up to our floor claustrophobic beyond belief - could barely fit the two of us and our luggage. The room was small and cramped. All the advertised amenities were there, but in miniature. The walls are done up in 1970s dark paneling, so lighting is a major issue. Also had to hunt around to find the electrical outlets to charge our phone/tablets. Bathroom was decent sized, but the faucet sounded like a 747 taking off every time we used it. EVERY time we left our room, we were stopped by hall staff demanding to know who we were and where we were going. Nobody tells you that the rooms are right next to a busy freeway overpass, so you have cars and trucks going by all day and night. Then in the morning you are treated to the sights and sounds of guys pouring their drunken girlfriends into taxis right out in front of the hotel. And yes, there are the police and ambulances constantly moving around 24/7. Then the breakfast is an adventure. We bought tickets, but as there are no signs we sat down at one of the tables and were almost assaulted by the dining room lady who DEMANDED our tickets. After getting over our sheer embarrassment from that we went to the ”buffet” that was limited at best, with most things running out almost immediately. It was a struggle to find something to eat in any sufficient quantity to start your day. Protein offerings ran out FAST, even in the very early hours. If you want an adventure in lodging, this is the place for you. If you want someplace that is relatively friendly, has some customer service, is not overrun by rude staff and drunks, go somewhere....anywhere....else.

Stayed for 2 nights in a twin room during Autumn. Good size comparing to many other hotels of this rate, enough space to open 2 suitcases at the same time. Love the location, easy to find the hotel from train station, it’s just above Daimaru and many excellent restaurants within 10 mins walk. It’s fabulous to get back to my room for a short break between shopping. Nothing is better than staying directly above the station for train travelers. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you.

Good and calm hotel to stay , different from the entrance , situated close to an arcade. Staff was good, and helped me with an early check in. If you arrive by train in Osaka, you may need to drag the bag from the station, easier to find the way coming from the streets and not the underground. But plenty of eateries around. Department stores close to Umeda station. Room had space for a big bag, comfy beds, some room amenitites, kettle, tea. Personnel amenities to be collected at the check in, that is the new eco trend in Japan. Mid-scale hotel, will consider for future travels.

○ not good ○ good point - there is nothing shortage except the following ”not good”. - ”Cleanliness” and ”satisfaction of breakfast” This is the highest priority in hotel selection, but this point is very satisfying. - It is new enough to smell building materials, but it is still praised for the room without dust and the bathroom without cloudy. - Breakfast is quite rich in variety. The taste is good. Dinner was late and I was not very hungry, but I just overeat it. - In addition to side dishes and salad, I had curry and pork bone ramen. I want to stay overnight. - Sweets are rich and coffee is especially delicious. - The atmosphere of the restaurant is good, and the staff 々 was also very concerned and I was able to eat comfortably. ○ Not good point - I wanted a hand soap. - The room is quite small. - There is no security box or WiFi explanation anywhere. - The breakfast scrambled eggs are too hot. ○ General Theory There is no luxury like a big hotel, but I was able to make it sufficiently and spend it comfortably. The location is good, so if you keep this, you will stay at the lodging.

This Ibis is located in the center of Osaka near Umeda station. It is also closed to Don Quijote and Osaka Science Museum. It is very convenient if you have to travel to other outskirt cities. The room is clean and tidy. It is good for solo and couple travel. Very happy with my stay there.

The hotel is very modern and the staff speak English (it seems to be a lie but it is hard for someone to speak English in this country). This is great because we visit other places from here. The room has a standard size, is clean, the bathroom is comfortable and is modern. It has tea and coffee in the entrance for guests (caffee is horrible, type infusion, but the infusion is good). As close to the station, it has all kinds of services around: shops, restaurants, karaokes...
