Grand Hotel Italia

There is nothing “GRAND” about this hotel! The location is great but it was awful. The rooms were dingy and small, and the showers dinky and slippery. The woman at the front desk must hate her job because she was far from helpful and was very rude. When we told her that the air conditioning was not working , we confronted her with the fact that it did, in fact, work in one of our 2 rooms but not in the other and she shrugged and said that there was nothing she could do. We insisted and then she turned to a big panel of buttons next to her desk and pressed some and it went on. She blatantly lied that she had no control over it and then controlled it. The room cooled down very soon afterward. We believe they are trying to save money at our comfort’s expense but the hotel is not cheap! It was pricey and terrible. The breakfast was so so but nothing was replenished even though we went early in the breakfast period. NO one refilled the coffe pots or put out fresh cups when they ran out. The place was shabby in a bad way and no one was helpful at all. We have stayed in lovely hotels in Italy but this was terrible. Orvieto was lovely and the location was ok but that’s the only positive I can state. A rip off! And the beds were hard as steel. Terrible

We loved our one-night stay at this hotel. The town is wonderful, and the hotel is wonderfully situated. We walked the 15 minutes from the top of the funicular. Our room was a corner room on the 5th floor, with a large balcony on one side and a smaller balcony (still large enough for two chairs and a table) on the other side. Breakfast was quite nice. The location is within a ~5 minute walk of a number of great restaurants, several beautiful piazzas including the Duomo. Will definitely be back on a future trip!

Great location- central & quiet. Lovely spacious light modern room on top floor with fabulous views. Modern bathroom that needs holder in shower for toiletries. Plenty of storage & comfortable bed. Wifi kept dropping out. This is a four star hotel that should have reliable & very secure wifi throughout. Urgent need of upgrade. Very good breakfast with plenty of choice & quality. All staff friendly & helpful.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. From the start, the front desk was overly helpful getting us checked in, managing our bags, and suggesting things to do and see. The hotel and rooms themselves are beautifully done and very comfortable. In retrospect, we would have changed our plans so that we could have spent more time here. It was the nicest hotel by far in our two week trip through northern Italy. It was a great value as well.

This a a lovely hotel that has just undergone a beautiful remodel as of spring 2023. The new decor is stylish and the attention to detail in the rooms is impeccable. Moritzio is went out of his way to help with dinner reservations. They had an excellent breakfast. It’s well located in the medieval quarter. The overall quality of the hotel is typical of a much more expensive property. Our small balcony had an expansive view of the Umbrian countryside. We loved Orvieto and wished we could have stayed longer at this hotel.
