We were interested in a unique vacation in the Abruzzo region, and found the Trabocci, the restaurant structures built over the seashore offering truly fresh seafood. So we decided to find a hotel/B&B nearby, if possible. The little city of Rocca San Giovanni seemed to fit the bill and we booked with Casa Isabella, an historic property. We weren't expecting much more than a comfortable inn but boy were we surprised! We were met by the B&B's namesake owner, Isabella, and immediately offered some refreshment. (Isabella incidentally was an international high fashion model, still very glamourous, and stylish) The inn offers three elegant rooms, beautifully decorated, with period furniture on one hand and modern bathrooms, fully stocked with quality toiletries and plenty of towels on the other hand. Our room, the Donna Ermina, was attractive and quiet, the bed comfortable, and the room completely serviced every day. The breakfasts were wonderful...fresh pastries, juices, fruit, eggs to order. In good weather, guests were seated on an outdoor terrace. A special touch was Isabella bringing a teacart with "the first cup of coffee" to one's room at whichever time guests preferred. And during our stay Marco, Isabella's husband and partner (and chef!) sent guests off each day with sandwiches. Free parking was available nearby in several areas close to the B&B. The best part of this inn was the owners hospitality and generosity, the worst was having to leave at the end of our stay.
