Parador de CAÑADAS Del Teide

What a lovely stay at this parador. The room, although a bit dated, was really clean and comfortable, nothing to complain. The breakfast exceeded our expectations really - wonderful fresh bread, various kinds of cheese, ham, charcuterie, etc. And the view from the room was just spectacular - in addition to the Mount Teide itself, we could even see the sun set behind the rocks from the other window.

We have stayed here before but this time it was for two nights, half board. Principally for observing stars. I took my Seestar S50 telescope to capture nebulae. Paradors always have an excellent reputation and rightly so. High standards in rooms, bathrooms & toiletries! All the staff are pleasant & very helpful. The food is típico - local dishes, such as rabbit and wrinkled potatoes! Wonderful. Join their Amigos scheme & get discounts and a welcoming glass of wine. The only downside on this visit was the loss of our camera ( not their fault but it was old, why didn't someone hand it in?). And I went down with food poisoning! Qué lástima! Avoid langoustinos. The peace & tranquility is amazing here. The air is so clear (humidity is 25% do very dry), the UV is about 25% higher too. Be careful. A great place to visit.

We had a very Nice stay at the Parador. Super friendly personel. We had halfboard comprising breakfast and diner booth of at an excellent level.

I am going to be completely honest as some reviews are dramatic. Rooms- there are a few blocks which some are old and new. We were in the old block on arrival with no air con and just a ceiling fan and not going to lie it wasn’t good. So straightaway we upgraded to the new block the next day but did cost us €150 for the suite room which was lovely no complaints. Check what u book before you get there as I was automatically allocated a room when u book. You can hire a air con machine for €80 Pool area - Lovely area but if you want a sunbed then forget it. People where putting them on the loungers midnight so if your planning an early wake up call for them you need to get up at midnight. It’s ridiculous we sat on the grass for the full week and by about 2pm people were leaving their loungers so we had them anyway. But area is lovely. In all fairness life guard will remove towels if your not there and someone is looking for one which i thought was great. Shop- was not overly expensive in the hotel. The snack bar was reasonably price, toasty and chips €4. Entertainment- not for me same 3 people I think all week and nothing for kids entertainment or kids clubs. Men vocalists is all we saw when we left hotel. Restaurants- some lovely restaurants outside the Italian Napolia I think it was called stunning pizza and the price unbelievable 3 huge pizza and 6 drinks €33 not a lie. Aqua viva does lovely food and the Mexican was lush, Over all for a week holiday self catering we really enjoyed it and I think was reasonably priced for families.

I would not stay here again if I got a free holiday! The sunbed situation is a joke with most beds reserved the night before which makes it borderline impossible to get a bed. Even if you do get a bed with an umbrella the chances are that it will be moved if you leave it longer than 10/15 minutes. The pool area was full of obnoxious groups of people who felt they had the right to reserve large areas of the pool overnight and that they were entitled to do what they liked. Will 100% never stay here again!
