Graemeshall House is a one of a kind stay. Beautiful 17th/18th century Manor home on the Orkneys mid-way between Kirkwall and St. Margaret's Hope. Plenty of parking in the circle drive. The room was luxurious with incredible amount of space. The bathroom was large enough to be another bedroom. Loved the integration of historic fixtures and furnishings with modern day touches. The available library was a fabulous step out of the past for a place to relax and read. John was a welcoming host and ensured our stay was comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and incorporated our dietary needs.

John is an excellent host, and house is gorgeous. Location is 15-20 mins from Kirkwall but with a car that’s fine for us. The house is across from the rocky coastline which affords stunning views. The bedroom was spacious, as was the bathroom (almost too big!) We would definitely stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at Graemeshall House in Orkney. John is the perfect host; kind and personable. The manor house is elegant and beautiful. The suite we stayed in (the Liard’s Suite) was immaculate, spacious, and luxuriously comfortable. We were able to custom choose our breakfast choices and it was all delicious. You must drive to dinner but there are several good choices not too far away. We are glad to give this accommodation our very highest recommendation.

Beautiful hotel. Luxury decor and comfort in rooms. Delicious breakfast and excellent host who was very knowledgable about local history. He also advised us on places to eat. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel. Handy for sites and very close to the Italian Chapel and Churchill Barriers.

Fantastic stay in beautiful house, spacious rooms with all the comfort and luxury you need. And all this with a historic touch. Location ideal to visit Orkney highlights. It’s a pity we stayed only for 2 nights. We highly recommend this place.

We stayed here for 4 nights and had the most amazing and relaxing time. The hotel is beautiful, has so much character and is seeped in history. We stayed in the garden room, which was spacious and well furnished. Lots of nice touches like fresh milk in the fridge, towelling bathrobes, slippers and lovely complimentary Scottish soap toiletries. The public areas are immaculate, with an abundance of fresh flowers. The drawing room and breakfast room are full of character - we felt like visiting royalty. John was a perfect host, serving lovely fresh breakfasts. Nothing was too much trouble eg lent us a corkscrew and wee rucksack and happily put our ice packs in the freezer. All part of the benefit of staying in a beautiful, small family run hotel. There is honestly not one single fault to find with this hotel. Perfect base to explore the Orkney Isles. Can't wait to return.

We stayed for a week at this beautiful property. It is a very upmarket bed and breakfast. We enjoyed the use of a suite of rooms (The Lairds's Suite) which included a double aspect bedroom with four poster bed, a bathroom with slipper bath and shower plus a sitting room with TV (there's one in the bedroom as well. All the furnishings and decorations are of a high standard which our stay comfortable and warm. The original house is sixteenth century but the part we were in is mid nineteenth century, very tastefully updated to twenty first century comfort whilst retaining its period features. The house is on the edge of Scapa Flow, overlooking the sea and surrounded by trees. The owner, John, provided excellent breakfasts in the dining room as well as a wealth of local knowledge. Though near St Mary's it's only 25 min drive to Kirkwall and all the Mainland sites are within 40 mins. An excellent place to stay which we'd thoroughly recommend.

A beautiful bed and breakfast in a lovingly restored historic home. The Laird's Suite was a spacious 4-room suite with water views and very comfortable furnishings. John was an extremely kind host and made us feel very welcome during our 4 night stay. The location is very peaceful, with spectacular scenery right outside, but it's worth knowing that at 10-15 minutes drive from most major towns, you'll likely want rent a car or be prepared to call ahead for cabs like we did. We loved our stay and would happily return next time we visit Orkney.

We had an exceptional stay at Graemshall House. We had a suite that was beautiful, comfortable and cozy. The bed was very comfortable. The space included a small refrigerator and a lot of little extras like dainty little brownies. The bathroom had a lovely claw foot tub by a window overlooking the sea. It was so peaceful and the view was breathtaking. The host went out of his way to help us including helping us with a flat tire. The breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options to choose from. The only drawback is that the B&B is near the far end of the island from Stromness, but in our opinion, it is very much worth the drive.
