Orbost Motel

The hotel in orbost town on the side of A1 road is a little rustic. The location is not easy to find, mainly because the sign at the entrance of the hotel is placed in the bushes, so people can't find it. The service is good. I am worried that we will arrive late, so I have opened the room to ventilate. You can eat in the town across the road, with Chinese food and fast food, and you can buy supermarkets. Stay here overnight and fill up with gasoline tomorrow morning, because there are gas stations and hot food for sale about two hours' drive to NSW.

Great stay at the motel. Accommodations exactly as pictured on the website. Helpful owner, clean, quiet. Convenient stopover. The motel is the best part about Orbost, which is a tired town that has seen better days. Orbost is the gateway to the Snowey River area.

This motel is a little gem, The host Vannie is super friendly and very accommodating. Just across the road from Orbost township it's self. Orbost Club good for dinner even if we didn't win the meat raffle. Highly recommend this hotel. The actual room is very well appointed and the bed super comfortable.

Stayed 2 nights in Aug 2024 and cannot recommend this place highly enough. Very affordable and the Rooms are beautifully renovated and equipped beyond any motel I have encountered. The service was awesome and the two queen beds were very comfortable.

Excellent motel what a beauty in the country. So clean and well presented. The host were were welcoming and friendly. Directed us to all the local places and restaurants. Nice places to fish and spend some time trekking. The beds were very comfortable and we had a good 3 days stay very memorable. Certainly recommend for couples and families.

This motel is just out of town, on the main road but you would never know by the lack of noise. It’s an old motel that has been renovated and updated to a very good standard. Though reception was closed, the key was left in our room and the door was open. Contact was just a phone call. The room was not huge but it was very comfortable with tv, fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee machine. There was enough crockery for 2 and items in the fridge for purchase. Nothing to be able to wash the crockery though there’s a T towel. The room isn’t serviced daily but that’s quite common now. The bathroom was a good size and the shower had good water pressure. The door lock is entertaining, very European. The king bed was comfortable though if you are a little shorter than me you may need a boost to get up on it. Where as the tub chairs are suitable for those close to the ground. Parking is in front of the unit. The sign for the motel at present is somewhat hidden behind a yucca so we were lucky the road is quiet. We would stay again for sure.

What a wonderful find this was! Absolutely lovely place to stop. Very clean, excellent beds, relaxing decor and wonderful staff. If you are ever on a road trip travelling through Orbost or even on business the you won’t find a better place to stay! We had two rooms and both were excellent. Nice little touches like fresh milk in the fridge and the bedside table light switches cable tied to the stem making it easier to find. How many times have you fumbled to turn the bedside light on and of so little details like this make all the difference. Our only regret is we only stayed for one night, we should have stayed longer.

Pros 1. One of the better and more updated options for a halfway trip between Melbourne and our destination (Tomakin) when wanting to go the coastal route rather than inland 2. Easy parking in front on unit 3. Simple check in process Cons 1. No proper lighting, only lamps. This was particularly frustrating in the bathroom, there is no light in the shower and with dark green tiles it’s hard to see if it’s clean. In the morning, we found spider webs and a spider above the shower head. Doubt they got there overnight 2. We had an extremely loud insect in our room which we couldn’t find. Sounded like a cicada. Kept us up all night from 1am until 7am when there was natural light. Not ideal way to start a holiday and even more so when you have to drive/travel the next day.
