This place is an out of the way destination up a dirt road in the northland of the North Island. You must buy gas and stock up on food in advance of your stay. That said it was a great restful experience. You are renting a whole house with 2 bedrooms, a full kitchen and laundry and stunning views of the valley. It was clean , spacious and comfortable. The hosts were very friendly and share produce from their garden. There is no air con but it is not needed as it is cool at night. There is plenty to see in the area within 30 minutes if you have a car. I would stay again...

What a character the owner, Candy, is - she gave us a superb tour of the premises including picking our veg for us to use with our evening meal. She also showed us where to go to see the glow worms. Amazing surroundings [with a tough drive to reach the lodge!] that is all owned by her and her husband - 50 acres I think she said. The lodge was very pleasant and a pleasure to stay in for the night
