Best Hotels in Opfikon, Switzerland

I have spent 18 days working from JOYN Zurich so think this should be a fairly accurate review of my experience. For context, JOYN is new so may still be working through teething issues, but hopefully this is useful feedback. Pros; - Comfortable, well equipped rooms. I was in one of the largest apartments they offer and it is a good space to spend a lot of time - The kitchenette whilst small is workable and has most of what you'd need - Well located close to the airport and about 25 mins by tram to central Zurich - Nice bathroom and good shower pressure - Gym is good with nice new equipment - Very close to great supermarkets (Coop and Migros next door) - The communal spaces are lovely, including the central courtyard and roof gardens - Strong water pressure from the shower (although the drain didn't seem to be able to cope with the volume of water which meant potential overflowing of the shower unless carefully managed) - The room has a small dishwasher. There were two dishwasher tablets provided and these weren't topped up by the cleaners, meaning you'll need to buy more Unfortunately the cons are pretty significant though, particularly if you want to work from here; Cons - The wifi is atrocious. At best the speeds hover around 1mbps which isn't good enough for stable whatsapp or facetime calls, let alone Teams or Zoom work calls. I thought this may have been my room but is pretty much my experience in all the open spaces including the ground floor communal spaces (see screenshot from Speedtest). This makes it unsuitable for any work. - The cleaning services are a bare minimum. After one week they changed my linen and towels but didn't vacuum, sweep the floor, empty bins or clean the bathroom. After another 7 days they'd hadn't come to clean again and when prompted they said it would be cleaned that day (but it wasn't). On the 8th day I asked and again they promised to have it cleaned. Whilst I wouldn't mind cleaning myself, there is no vacuum cleaner, cleaning cloths or anything else in the room to clean with, so unless you want to buy your own, be prepared for it to get pretty dusty and the bathroom to get dirty. Cleaning also didn't include replacing the kitchen towels so you'll have to wash these yourself if you're staying for an extended period. - Other than the supermarkets nearby there is pretty much nothing else around Perhaps they're not used to guests having longer stays, but with cleaning services like this, it will become pretty horrible unless guests buy the cleaning products and do it themselves.

Swiss budget motels are better than most American 3+ star hotels. Tram is seconds from hotel. Tram cost 2.70 Swiss Franc one-way (May 2023). Less than 20 minutes from Lake Zurich. Room was good enough size for one short night before the airport. Laundry on-site. Food/drink vending machine in lobby.

I stayed at this hotel for one night for an early departure. It is located in a neat township of Glattbrugg within a seven-minute bus ride from the Zurich airport. Buses circulate every 6 or 7 minutes. My modest investment of € 80 has paid off in spades. The room was big and uncluttered with a super-comfortable bed and a HUGE TV screen with free movies for all tastes. There was a tiny fridge too with free Coke, beer and orange juice. Spacious wardrobe, large work surface and a big bathroom, with this particular shine that comes from highly professional cleaning. Its only downside from my point of view was a smallish bath in the place of a largish shower cubicle that would have been my preference. There is also a gym, a wellness centre and several eateries including a spareribs place but I had no time for exploring those. Within a short walking distance there are several take-aways and a supermarket. I found the price to be quite reasonable for an airport hotel and even affordable. My only doubt was an insecure internet connection that my browser categorically blocked as it posed a threat to the security of my personal data. Chrome had no such qualms though. All in all, to be highly recommended.

Apart-Hotel by Hilton is a hotel run and supervised by the Hilton Group. The stay here for you might not earn you Hilton Honors point but trust me you do not pay too much to book the hotel and still enjoy a wonderful stay. The parent Hilton Hotel is just 2 mins walk from Apart-Hotel. The same airport shuttle picks you up from the airport and first drops you at the Apart-Hotel and then the Hilton flagship hotel. The fact that your airport pick-up and drop (at scheduled hours) are free adds up to the benefit of staying here. The property might not have a full-fledged kitchen but it serves hot breakfast every morning. If you chose to dine you are guided to the nearby Hilton Flagship hotel which is an amazing place to be. Overall, my stay here was amazing- no regrets or complaints whatsoever. The waiters did not seem to be very enthusiastic about the Asian faces. At breakfast, I asked you to go to the group meal area without asking any questions! As a result, we found that there is another area that is used by foreigners, and the meals and quality are different! Two callouts! Then we asked! They are reluctant to say that we are a team, why? Can the Chinese travel only by team? During the period, a waitress also questioned how can we get food in the good buffet area? Very excessive! In addition, at the time of bill settlement, we had two rooms in total. I gave a city tax of 5 yuan in cash (2.5 Swiss francs), and at the airport, I received a text message deducted from the city tax of 2.5 Swiss francs!

Very nice hotel , good location 15 minutes drive to the center , train and tram very close ! They must have room service available

Chosen this hotel as it is near to the airport and they have just resumed the airport shuttle service which is a plus point. However, when I arrive the hotel in the morning after a long 13 hours flight from Singapore, the room was not ready which is kind of understandable. After a long wait until 2pm, my room was not ready yet, and only at 3.30pm I got my room key. To my horror, the room was filthy. It was not cleaned, soiled cups everywhere and the trash bin was not cleared, and chocolate crumbs on my bed. It was disgusting. Immediately I went down to the reception to ask for another room, and instead of higher floor, I was assigned a ground floor. The front desk (I believed she is the supervisor), she was very rude. It is a shame to the Swiss Hospitality. Avoid this hotel at all cost.

Clean, quiet and conveniently located to public transport. They need to improve on a couple of minor things like offering the free shuttle to the airport and not just from the airport, and offering atleast one bottle of complimentary mineral water (perhaps in a returnable glass bottle) per day. The property looks a bit aged, but overall it meets the needs of an airport hotel quite well. I'd recommend it.
