Villa Sunset

We have just returned from a lovely 7 day stay at the Villa Sunset apartments in Plat. We travelled as a family of four, with two older teenagers (19 and 17). The apartments are modern and clean with the most wonderful views of the Adriatic. The hosts Danko and his father Zoran are wonderfully attentive and nothing is too much trouble. We arrived on an early flight from Manchester landing at 10am and we were at the apartments by 11am (the apartment is only a short drive from the airport). Zoran was available to greet us and allowed us to access the apartment to drop our bags until the check in time of 2pm, this was very helpful indeed and meant that we could go and explore and use the pool area. The apartments are about a 20 minute walk (5 minute drive) to the picturesque village of Mlini where there are a number of bars and eateries. A little further on the coastline, you can walk to Srebrenno beach which has a few more bars and eateries. Dubrovnik is only a 20 minute drive from the apartments and Cavtat is a 10 minute drive. We found the location of the apartments perfect as we love walking and exploring. We ate out most evenings however had breakfast in the apartment every day. The kitchen facilities are ample - we cooked a pasta dish one evening and had everything we needed utensils and equipment wise. The supermarket opposite the apartments remains closed however we were able to get a lift from Zoran to Tommy's supermarket on the first day and got an Uber to Lidl just passed Srebrenno which was only 6 euros. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. The air conditioning was welcomed towards the end of the holiday as the temperatures started rising. We have had the most wonderful holiday staying at the Villa Sunset apartments, I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and be able to fully recharge and relax in the most beautiful country. Croatia, we have fallen in love and will be back!
Villa Samba

I will attempt to keep my review brief. I'm a firm believer of, if you have nothing positive to say, then don't post! However, I feel I must share our experience to any families who are considering staying at Villa Samba, to well and truly avoid. My family of 4 recently stayed at Villa Samba for my husbands 50th birthday. The owner Nicola kindly gifted my husband with a kraft of red wine. Within 24hrs we discovered the owners do not like children and teens! The place has a nice pool, which the owner is super-precious about, as he made the point of how much it cost him to build. We did only use the pool once and that was enough, as my husband was spoken to very rudely by owner Nicola, all because my daughter had accidently knocked and turned on the infinity pool switch . We wasn't informed the pool even had such feature, and though it came on automatically. The following morning I was told off for leaving a porch light overnight. There were other abrupt interactions with the owner, which I won't bore you with! The apartment itself was spotless, and that's the only positive thing I have to say about the place. There is no local shop/convenience store nearby, you have to drive or catch a bus. There are a couple of restaurants nearby, which are average. If you are visiting as a couple, you should be ok...providing you do not use the owners €300,000 swimming pool!

Really enjoyed our stay for the week! The location is handy for travelling between Cavtat and Dubrovnik and is not far from the airport. We used the number 10 bus (travels from Dubrovnik to Cavtat) on a daily basis as this was a cheaper alternative to ordering taxis, the bus stop is a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel- although this is uphill and can be tiring in the heat. There are two pebble beaches within walking distance and a pier where you can catch a boat taxi. There aren’t many restaurants near the hotel. The reception is manned 24/7 and the staff seemed friendly and helpful. Elena checked us in and seemed really informative and helpful with our queries. There is wifi but this is only available in the reception and didn’t work very well unless we were stood outside. Hotel has a small shop where you can buy essentials, a gym, pool table and ATM. There is a poolside bar and restaurant but these only accept cash payments. Food from the restaurant was nice but basic, it was okay for a snack at lunchtime. Room was basic but very clean (cleaners visited on a daily basis), there was a small fridge (no freezer) electric hob and sink (no kettle or toaster) with free air-con. We had a great sea view from our room in the Cecilia block however there were ALOT of steps to the room and back, I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you have any mobility problems. Overall hotel seemed really clean, was in a great safe location with friendly staff. I would recommend staying here to others.

My husband and I stayed here with our two teenage daughters in a one bedroom apartment this was a really lovely stylish property. Apartments are spacious and very well designed. We had a room overlooking the garden area. Plenty of storage. Breakfast was included in our rate - and I can honestly say it is one of the best buffet breakfast offerings I have encountered before, plenty of options available - and freshly squeezed orange juice and kiwi juice was Devine. If you get chance pop in for dinner, this was also super tasty and very reasonably priced. Very easy to get around we used Ubers which were well priced and reliable. The roof top pool was great, very comfortable loungers and also plenty of deck chairs - although in all honesty i would say it wouldn’t be the best option if you have children under 10. Kids love to jump around and shout a lot when playing by the pool they are on holiday after all and want to have fun! But due to the small shared area this isn’t ideal for either the parents of the kids or other guests enjoying the space- it also has very little shade so again not the best place for little ones. Great location- beautiful place!

This was our first visit to this resort. The grounds are quite pretty and the lobby is modern and open. It has a nice location with access to some restaurants and rocky beach within walking distance. Check in was a breeze and the front desk agent was very friendly. Our room was nice and we enjoyed a lovely view. The bed linens were comfortable and I appreciated the modern amenities. The air conditioning was not the best and only went down to 19 degrees Celsius. This was not cold enough and the room was quite warm throughout the night when trying to sleep. The fan only goes from low to auto, so that didn’t help much. The grounds are nice and included breakfast was top notch. Very large selection of different foods and the rice pudding was fantastic. The pool was a large disappointment. Like the pictures suggest, having rows of lawn chairs (one in front of another) takes away from a relaxing feeling, as well as the amount of children playing with their floaties, tossing the balls around and yelling and screaming. It felt more like a small crowded Disneyland hotel pool with tons of noise, rather than a R&R destination. For this reason alone, we will not return to this hotel.
