Where do we begin! Paid for superior room 15 months before the holiday, organised by leger holidays. On arrival after getting in the room I had to call reception to check we had been given a superior room. Very small bathroom with shower and very tired looking. Room acceptable, until we looked out to find part of the building obscuring lake view. Dreadful noise from next door morning and very late every night, when I asked about it at reception I was told it was a guest! I knew full well it wasnt as no room number on the door......it was staff accommodation.....4 beds we saw as the door was left open. I asked to upgrade again told no available rooms. Food was basic and often inedible, definitely catered for coach holiday not the hotels full menu, standard was unacceptable. Bed was made daily and towels changed as necessary but sadly bathroom not cleaned all the week we were there. Breakfast was good and leila worked so hard in the breakfast room, always with a smile. Good position hotel on edge of village but sadly not all superior rooms got a good view. Outdoor areas and pool we're nice. Definitely needs more attention to detail, and would not recommend to anyone who expects a good standard. Wouldn't recommend leger either.

We stayed 4 nights at the Hotel Cortese. It is ideally situated to explore the area, in particular the lake Orta which we found the most charming, less crowded of the various lakes in Northern Italy. Many worthwhile sites within the reach of a relatively short drive. The hotel is absolutely a great place to stay. Nice, large rooms, very clean, very comfortable. The restaurant offers a nice variety of excellent dishes. Food was just great! We also followed the staff's recommendations for local wines and that was a great experience. Breakfast buffet has everything you could think of. Facilities include a lounge, swimming pool, a fitness room, a nice outside area to relax and enjoy. The hotel does not have a charging station for EVs, but there's plenty of options in the surroundings, so this wasn't an issue at all. And a special word about the staff: extremely friendly, providing an excellent service with style and a real care for the guests' well-being. A big thank you to all the team! All in all, we were very pleased with our stay, and we would certainly return to the lovely Hotel Cortese during a next trip to the region. A highly recommendable place!

The first thing we noticed on entering our 3rd floor room, was the stunning view and balcony. However, this was dampened on opening the balcony doors due to the noise from the road in front of us. Clearly the main road in the area. This will not suit people looking for a lake view + serenity. Having said this, the hotel is good value and barely 10 minutes walk to the lakeside via some lovely public gardens. A supermarket is also 5 minutes walk for those wanting to stock up for picnic lunches. It was a short, flat walk from the train station and similar into the main Bavano town. The room did not have a mini fridge. The other downside was that they switched off air-conditioning in September and switched on heating. The temperature during our stay was still high (from a Britsh perspective) and we would have enjoyed the option of aircon. Especially at night where the desire was to keep the window closed to reduce noise. We asked for, and were speedily given, a fan - which helped. Breakfast was ample and the staff were friendly. The rooms were kept clean and you could see a pride in the hotel. No tea/coffee maling facilities in the room, but this seems common in Italy from our small experience. Overall we found the hotel to be be very good value for money and enjoyed our 3 night stay.
