Hampton Inn by Hilton Omaha UN Medical Center Area

My daughter and I had a little staycation and it was a great hotel to stay at. Brand new, clean, excellent staff, we had a great time. We hung out at the indoor pool, nice views of the surrounding medical center. In the morning, free breakfast was wonderful, tons of selections. Would highly recommend!

My wife was scheduled to have surgery early on 11/5 so we opted to stay in Omaha rather than add the stress of an early morning drive to the UNMC. It started off with the lack of places to park so I could check in. This is easily the most inconvenient hotel I've ever stayed at in this regard. Reception desk on the 2nd floor, inconvenient, but not the first time I've seen this arrangement. When I checked in I asked about the refreshment center, we like to have some soda and water in the room for later in the evening. There was nothing in the snack area refrigerator. The clerk went to see if any had arrived and not been shelved yet. No. Also didn't get my free water at check in, although this is pretty minor. Room was ok, certainly not of a high caliber though. Floor was squeaky and you could clearly hear others in nearby rooms. We wanted to get to bed early since her surgery was scheduled early in the morning. She had to take two showers prior to admittance, one that evening and one the next morning. She took her evening shower but when she started the hair dryer (the one supplied by Hampton) it blew the lights and heater in the sleeping area. I called the clerk who said she'd check the breaker room and get back to me. 20 minutes later I hadn't heard anything and called back. Told that a maintenance person was on the way and would be there in 5 minutes and she'd call back. 20 minutes later hadn't heard anything so called the front desk again to find out that the maintenance man couldn't fix the problem. I had to push her to get a room with working lights and heat. Ended up having to move floors, very inconvenient since we had to repack everything to move at, now, about 10:30 p.m. Hard to understand since the hotel didn't appear to be very busy. In the morning when she took her a.m. shower we couldn't get any hot water. Left the shower and sink hot water run for about 15 minutes and it never even got even a little warm. Nice stressful cold shower before surgery. Terrible stay. Worst in 55 yrs of business travel.
