Had a family meal here the other night.Staff were friendly. The starters and main courses were fine. The desserts not so.I had the profiteroles with chocolate sauce.Very rich and bland and my dad's apple crumble and custard was terrible. That said I would go back.

If you're looking for authentic Scottish hospitality then look no further. While my colleagues were staying here overnight as I visited family on business, we all enjoyed a lovely meal with traditional Aberdeenshire flair. Simple, tasty grub topped off by outstandingly friendly service and sensible prices. Manager Stuart made sure we were all warmly looked after. I took a peak into a colleague's room, which was massive and according to them, extra comfy. A hefty breakfast platter the next day made me envious I had not slept over too. Look forward to returning for a meal when next in the area and highly recommend to anyone for a meal or somewhere to stay.

Very pleasant single night stay. Bar was busy with guests and locals which is always a good sign. Owner made a specific effort to introduce himself and have a chat to welcome us which is a nice touch. We stayed in "The Cherry" room, which was spacious, clean and comfortable with a big TV. Room had been recently updated and was tastefully decorated. Evening meal was enjoyable. There were a couple of Trainee servers who did a great job. Recommended - thanks for the hospitality :-)

Called for drinks and a snack. Warm welcome and good selection of drinks but food was a little disappointing. Had the Cullen Skink which we felt was a little thin on fish and watery when compared with others we had experienced on our tours of north east Scotland.

Our favorite hotel of the trip, wish we could have stayed an extra day. Huge parking lot, beautiful garden set in the peaceful village of Oldmendrum. This boutique hotel with just 6 rooms is nestled in an upscale neighborhood. Our Deluxe Double Room with Balcony was very spacious with comfortable chairs and coffee table, desk, king sized bed, shelves, and nightstands. The bathroom was similarly large with tub/shower combo and plenty of room for our personal toiletries. The hotel and rooms were tastefully and colorfully decorated. We stayed in the “Yew” room (loved this, being a tree-lover). The front view was of the staff parking lot (not busy) and the neighborhood. The back view from the bathroom was the wider view of the valley. The room next to ours (Ash) had a better balcony out the back. One of the best features of this room was the skylight with light blocking shades so we were still able to go to sleep at a reasonable hour amid the late sunset. We were able to walk from the hotel around the town though a car is required to get to Oldmeldrum. The restaurant was excellent. The bar offered a large selection of Scottish made gins and whiskies. This was a favorite spot for locals. The owner and host, Stuart, is extremely welcoming and friendly—we felt like family! Dinner was excellent. I had the Sunday roast—marvelous. We chose to eat both nights’ dinners at The Redgarth. Included breakfast was cold—fruit and yogurt and then pastries, cheese and cold cuts—very filling and fresh! We highly recommend this hotel.

Very good food, everyone in our party of mixed ages found something to enjoy. Particularly impressed by the food provided from the kids menu to the 4 children in the party which was very good quality and freshly prepared. The hotel kindly allowed us a smaller dining room for our party of 16.

Stayed at The Redgarth after an unexpected dash to Aberdeenshire, the rooms are fantastic and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The pub itself is excellent with an extensive range of food and drink, as you would expect. Fine Scottish hospitality from Stuart, and the breakfasts are excellent; Continental style comprising a huge fruit salad followed by ham and cheese with, in my case, home-made gluten-free rolls and toast. Will definitely be back!
