I really want to love this place. It's charming, staff is really friendly but the building has toxic mold. I was first put into room 00 and I noticed a bubble of paint on the bathroom wall indicating past water damage, so I was suspicious. I also had to open the toilet tank as the toilet was malfunctioning and the whole inside was covered in mold. I noticed all this a few hours after check in, but since there is no front desk person all night, I was sleepless and coughing until the next day when I was able to get switched to another room. The employee was very helpful and immediately got me taken care of to another room upstairs, although even that room had visible mold beginning to grow in the tile grout in the shower and visible water damage from a really strange installation of the sink that was super loose. I have just come out of a toxic mold situation in my own home so I am much more sensitive than most people at this time as my system is overloaded with toxins as I detox, so most people probably would not have such a severe reaction, but please let my suffering not be in vain. Chantico Inn management needs to hire a professional mold inspector to assess the hotel and remediate, for the safety of employees and all guests. In addition to the mold, after I checked out they overcharged me for "additional taxes" without my prior consent so I am still waiting for a resolution on that. If I'd had the money I would have gone to another hotel but I could not swing it.
