Rostrevor Hotel

The hotel is located on st Lawrence gap which has a few clubs and restaurants. It can get quite noisy at night. If you opt for the sea view apartment you are less likely to hear the club on the opposite side of the road. The room itself is great, there is a kitchen where you can cook your breakfast and make tea, a working tap, fridge, freezer, kettle, microwave. The balcony and the view is lovely. Woke up each morning looking out onto the blue water and blue skies! I went with my friend and so we had a double bed each which is very comfortable. The shower is a bit slow with water but if you run it for 3-4 minutes the water will get warm. We didn’t opt for the breakfast so cannot comment on what the food is like. Overall positive, my only complaint is beware when ordering taxi they quote in US dollars and not Barbadian dollars. The female receptionist misled me despite me asking her twice is the price quoted Barbadian dollar and she said yes. Then when we finished the taxi ride we were told it was in US dollar and not Barbadian dollars. I think that is a fundamental error by the receptionist and cost me unnecessarily. For that the hotel did not deserve a 5 star. In terms of location it is good but expect noise as you are directly opposite a nightclub called halo that is very noisy at the weekends especially the dj and his microphone shouting into it. The island is very small so everything is not far. It is worth hiring a car to get around the island otherwise the taxi fare will be expensive. A taxi fare from at Lawrence gap to the north of the island would cost you 120 Barbadian dollars one way. The hotel has a nice outdoor swimming pool and private chill out area and a restaurant to order drinks. Would I stay here again? Yes I think i would stay here again.
Barbados Beach Club Resort - All Inclusive

Writing this on the way to the airport after a wonderful 10 night stay at Barbados Beach Club with our young son and baby boy. We read all the extreme reviews on here and were really worried about the hotel before arriving. We lowered our expectations and were expecting a really bad place that we would have to grin and bear. We were so happily surprised to arrive and find a really lovely and simple hotel on the most incredible beach. For context - we have stayed in a number of beautiful 5* star hotels around the world (Soho House, Claridges, Sofitel etc) so we have experienced wonderful places - and we were really happy at BBC. Our room was clean and well maintained, with a great balcony overlooking the turquoise ocean. We had a flat screen TV with lots of channels, and the beds were very comfortable. The AC was strong and it was great to have a fridge and a kettle. The hotel shares the beach with a number of 4/5* hotels - and it’s the best beach I’ve experienced in Barbados so far. The waves are strong but great fun for kids (as long as you keep a close eye on them) and for a strong workout. I really enjoyed my daily walks along the beach. We also really liked the food - lots of choice each day, and an emphasis on home cooking style dishes. Fresh juice at breakfast would have been nice, but probably not possible for a hotel of this range. The cocktails and drinks at the pool bar were great too, with the most wonderful ocean backdrop. The rum punch is powerful! Later on in the stay we got chatting to some older guests who were incredibly critical of the hotel, and we were perplexed. They had just arrived from a cruise and were annoyed that the hotel couldn’t match the 24/7 ice creams etc that they had on the cruise. They also complained about there being “too many birds”, which made us laugh a lot. I guess the beach is too sandy too? I can only assume that these are the type of people who are writing such negative reviews on here - people who love to moan about everything and drink heavily from 10am and talk to the staff like they’re servants. This is a budget hotel and from my perspective offered terrific value to spend almost 2 weeks at Christmastime on a stunning beach without having to take out a 2nd mortgage to pay for it! I do really think some Brits just love to find things to complain about… and then enjoy posting about it online. People moaning about the shower being cold… just leave it to run for a couple of minutes and the heat kicks in? You’re on a tropical island, not in a UK city centre. Things are a little slower and rustic here - just lean in to it and enjoy it. My son loved the nature - including the tortoises, hummingbirds, parrots and of course the crabs on the rocks. It’s truly a beautiful paradise. I was wary of the pool at first as I’d read a review on TripAdvisor that it was “filthy”. Within a few days I’d gotten over that bias and was happily swimming in the lovely clean pool with my baby. It’s a great temperatu

South Point Hotel

This is a beautiful property that is not adequately resourced so beware. My family and I came for a birthday get away. When checking in early, we were told our rooms would be available between Noon - 1 PM and we could wait at the bar/pool area which we did. When we came back to check, we were told that 3 PM was check in time and we'd just have to wait. Had we known this, we would have gone to the beach and came back. As it turns out, the rooms were not ready at 3 PM but we waited an additional 2 hours before our 2 rooms were ready. At that time, only 1 was the type of room we booked so half our family had to wait another 90 minutes. The property has much potential but not as currently resourced. It appears that it changed hands or re-opened in March, nine months prior to our stay. I would emphasize the staff we encountered were friendly but sometimes didn't even show back up after a request was made. My guess is that they could not provide what was promised and were tired of responding without any answers or support from the property/management. The following days were just about the same: - no towels for guests at the pool - when there were towels, they lasted approx 5 min and were not replenished - no bottled water available anywhere, even for purchase - incorrect service or much delayed service at the restaurant - frequently out of basic offerings at restaurant - smoothies, eggs, cassava fries, fish and chips +++ - in addition to poor food service, there are no snacks or other goods for purchase on the property We were connected with a great local surf lesson (Andre Clarke, check him out) via the front desk and that would have to be the one positive of the trip. What was supposed to be a fun family birthday trip devolved into eternal waiting for services that never arrived. I wish I could say that management had any interest in resolving the difference between what was promised and what was delivered but they didn't address it with us while we were at the property and as of this writing and submitting a similar written email, we have had no communication or compensation for the difference between what was promised and what was delivered.
Time Out Hotel

On arrival i had problem with incorrect bed size as per my reservation. The gentelman in reception and the gentelman who show me the alternative rooms were very kind and caring. Some more issues happened to: such as giving the wrong card for the room, had to come back and fix again. Dirty towels left in the room, fixed quickly. No water was available, that was fixed too. Although it sound bad, It did not bother me much. They were quick on actioning. Then, i have been told there were a mistake for the room again, i actually had the correct room reserved for me from the begining. But i was happy with the room i had, so, i did not change it. One thing i can say the water does not have enough pressure in the tab and shower head. These were some negative parts. Besides these, hotel generally very clean, AC working well, no flies or bugs or mosquitos. I would recommend this hotel for all, only possible registeration issues you might face.
Sunbay Hotel

I felt compelled to review after seeing some of the negative reviews. This is a great value hotel! Not sure who would complain about freshly cooked breakfast that varies daily! They will cook omelette and poached or fried eggs! Lovely fresh plantain and hash one day! Second day fresh carrot bakes. Scrambled eggs, plentiful toast and coffee, juice, water and coffee! Everywhere clean! Air con working well! Smart TV and option to sign into your Netflix or Prime! Large bathroom with bath and shower! Large balcony! We were in the deluxe room! Pool looked nice we haven't been in yet! Amazing beach opposite! Agree the ZX buses go fast but this is all part of the culture of Barbados and I love it! If you want other transport get a taxi or one of the bigger yellow buses! Or everywhere is walkable with plenty of bars for refreshments along the way! I always feel safe in Barbados and yes there are people selling stuff but you can politely decline and they take no offence!
