Bel and the Dragon-Odiham

Having been to a number of hotels over the last few months, many of them disappointing for various different reasons, I can honestly say that my stay at the Bel and Dragon was one of the best I’ve ever experienced. I visited with a couple of friends for our annual catch-up. From the moment we arrived, all staff were warm and friendly. We all had fantastic rooms. Mine was superb - large, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable, with a beautiful Medieval wall painting. The management had literally thought of everything and it is that attention to detail that is so welcome but so often lacking, even in hotels costing triple the price. For instance, there were 2 comfortable chairs to sit in, a TV and a radio , quality coffee-making facilities, a large walk in shower and a separate bath, slippers and a dressing gown. There was even a complimentary tipple! I could imagine the room could get a bit warm on a very hot day, but it was a sunny, warm day when we were there and the temperature was fine, even with the windows closed. Breakfast was included in the room price and was excellent, with a wide range of choices (brilliant poached eggs!). We also had a lovely meal in the restaurant and enjoyed the bar area in the evening. As well as being an outstanding place to stay, it was also incredibly good value. So many places are charging silly money for very basic facilities. As I say, this was probably the best room I’ve stayed in for a very long time, including both pub rooms and ‘luxury’ hotels, but the rate charged was extremely reasonable. If only every hotel were like this. In fact, anyone who runs a hotel, or pub with rooms, should stay the night at the Bel and Dragon in Odiham and pick up some tips! Outstanding and wholeheartedly recommended.

We just had two nights here in the garden rooms and I have to say they were lovely, I was worried we would be kept awake from the garden noise but once the door was closed we didn’t hear a thing Facilities were great everything you need to, coffee machine kettle iron hairdryer My only complaint is the staff park their cars outside our room which meant there was no parking for us not even through the arch way, we had to find disabled on the Main Street , Other than that no complaints And the breakfast was excellent

Have been here a few times and definitely will continue to. The Sunday roasts are the tastiest around and service is always excellent. The staff are very polite and attentive. The gravy is the best and the Yorkshire puddings are fluffy and huge. Absolutely delicious. The other pubs local who charge the same are not as nice. I will definitely be back.

A one night stopover at this swish and stylish place. Our room Oriana was absolutely beautiful with all the coziness and refinement you would expect. We dined with friends in the evening. Wow! What a beautiful restaurant! Service was superb, and we all agreed that our food was exceptional! Breakfast this morning also did not disappoint! We’ve just returned from an absolutely brilliant weekend at the Bel and the dragon. We used the hotel as a base to visit Goodwood and couldn’t have picked a better place. We had 3 rooms and all were tastefully decorated and clean with very comfortable beds. The weather was very good so we ate outside in the beautiful garden area on the 1st night and the food for all 6 of us was lovely no complaints all round. Whilst the actual place is very beautiful and charming it’s the staff that make this place so special and made our weekend perfect. We saw the assistant manager around a lot and she was always so helpful along with Indie and Lottie but every single staff member was so kind and attentive to our group making us all feel like VIPs so much so that we’ve booked another 2 visits in. We can’t wait to see you all again!

We had our wedding lunch here a number of years ago, which was beautifully done. We returned recently with friends because we’d heard about the refurb. Nicely done with great outdoor space. Our meal was excellent. We had the sharing plate for two between three of us and it was plenty as a starter. My wife had the pork belly, an unusual choice for her, but raved about it. I had the crab linguine which was cooked to perfection. We had great service, particularly from the manager although, to be honest, our main course was a long time coming. The not so good point of this place, and always has been the very slow service in or from the bar. Just not enough people serving on a busy weekend night. Notwithstanding this, it was a good night out.
