Bel and the Dragon-Odiham

A one night stopover at this swish and stylish place. Our room Oriana was absolutely beautiful with all the coziness and refinement you would expect. We dined with friends in the evening. Wow! What a beautiful restaurant! Service was superb, and we all agreed that our food was exceptional! Breakfast this morning also did not disappoint! A delightful hotel located in a beautiful part of the world. The room was well presented and had a larger than average double king sized bed, this was comfortable with adequate bedding. The bathroom was a quirky design with one of the old oak beams cutting through the shower entrance. I found this to be a fun feature but less able bodied people may struggle. Both the bedroom and bathroom were clean and well presented. Breakfast was served in the pub restaurant and was excellent in terms of verity and quality. All of the staff I interacted with were friendly and very helpful. The cost was fair for the area and time of year. Tea, coffee, bottled water and biscuits were all provided, as an added bonus the room came with a bottle of gin to try. The only downside (and it’s minor) was the Iron wasn’t very good and the room was very hot due to the summer heat wave. That said the was a very effective fan in the room.

We had our wedding lunch here a number of years ago, which was beautifully done. We returned recently with friends because we’d heard about the refurb. Nicely done with great outdoor space. Our meal was excellent. We had the sharing plate for two between three of us and it was plenty as a starter. My wife had the pork belly, an unusual choice for her, but raved about it. I had the crab linguine which was cooked to perfection. We had great service, particularly from the manager although, to be honest, our main course was a long time coming. The not so good point of this place, and always has been the very slow service in or from the bar. Just not enough people serving on a busy weekend night. Notwithstanding this, it was a good night out.

We had a fantastic family stay at the newly refurbished Bel & the Dragon in Odiham. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the charming decor—tastefully done with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that still feels fresh and modern. The rooms were beautifully appointed, and the beds were incredibly comfy—everyone slept like a dream! Breakfast was a real highlight: delicious, well-presented, and with a great variety of options. The team was also very attentive to allergies, which made us feel really well looked after. It’s clear they take dietary needs seriously, and that attention to detail made all the difference. Highly recommend for a relaxed, comfortable family getaway with thoughtful service and a lovely setting.

Really disappointing meal : from a group of 9 of the 5 people I discussed the food with their meals were served cold. This was our third visit over the years and will be our last. My burger was cold - the ingredients were potentially good but it was cold by the time it reached me. My daughter's pasta, my wife's fish, my son's steak and my mother's steak were all cold. My wife's sea bass was small for £29 and she said tasted 'fishy' and not fresh. Beer wise the Hog's Back was off so the only option was London Pride - not a bad thing in itself but indicative of poor stock management. Most other guests (not from our party) looked to be having roasts, it being Sunday lunch, but can't comment as none of our party opted for this. The dining room was 2/3 full - though other areas such as the private dining were in use so it was reasonably busy. Service was young, friendly, and adequate. The dining room was chilly though it warmed up a little as people arrived. Unfortunately I think there is something wrong between the kitchen and the service - either the food is being prepared but not presented warm enough or the slightly haphazard service means it is sitting on the pass too long and not reaching the table promptly. We regret not raising concerns at the time but as my mother was inviting and we were there to commemorate my recently deceased father's birthday we did not want to spoil the occasion. Despite this restraint it was not what we were hoping for. Prices are aggressive and not justified by the offering.

The food was excellent, the staff were very nice. The bathrooms were a disgrace. Not fit for purpose. The blind in the bedroom was broken and there is mold all along the window. The fact that the bathrooms are in dire need of replacing was not mentioned when we booked. Also a very low wall in the carpark , cannot be seen in reversing mirror,our friends damaged there car on it.
