Brought my parents here for a spa/golf retreat. The grounds are stunning, the staff were lovely, can't ask for more!

Stayed here whilst on business… Beautiful hotel on the outside with well maintained gardens… Inside slightly dated and could do with a small investment but overall was lovely… Gym and pool was good

Lovely location, (pretty village) lovely grounds and impressive entrance. However, we weren’t in the main hotel. The room was large but old fashioned. The roof sloped at the sides which we banged our heads on several times. The window was small which made it stuffy and it was very dark, no main light in the bedroom only lamps. Bed was king size and comfortable. The room and bathroom was clean. We used the restaurant once for dinner and we had 2 breakfasts and the food was nice and reasonable priced. Breakfast was self service (as ours was included) with a good and plentiful variety. The staff were friendly and helpful but professional. We didn’t use the pool in the end as it meant going outside and back inside, as our room was not connected to a covered route to the pool. Nothing really to complain about but we did expect the room to be a bit more luxurious. Slightly overpriced for the room. I expect the price was based on the available amenities.

This is definitely a British-style castle hotel. The dining, fitness, golf, garden and rooms give people a very good experience. It is a must-stay place when returning to the UK. A place you don't want to leave once you come here. It's a must-stay place! !

The entrance and main buildings have a lot of character. Be aware the restaurant does not have a good enough regard of clients allergies no matter how many times you mention it. I had three attempts - once by phone, once by email and another on arrival at reception to get my GF dietary requirements across and yet my starter still included bread crumbs !

We had the golf, dinner, breakfast and golf deal at £176 P.P. Played both courses which were in great condition. Our room overlooked the 18th green and was lovely, clean and mostly quiet (couple of ****** nearby, not the fault of the hotel ). Meals were great. We had the steak which were very nice. Breakfast was just what we needed, being both hearty and plentiful. Couldn't have been more pleased. Staff were super friendly too. Thanks.

I would have given 5, reason being we were disappointed with the rooms. As a previous guest mentioned they were not quite like the ones shown when booking. We too were in The Mews where I thought and asked on booking were in main hotel building. I am a Gold member and was disappointed where we were put. Found bathroom's cold not big enough heater/towel rail to warm it. No views from the windows, just roof tops, not what I think a Gold member should be given. Hope this does not happen if we come again. Room though was clean, warm and comfy I can say that, restful. On a positive note we were welcomed by Charlotte at Reception, warmly and chatty. All the staff were so friendly, helpful and seem as though they loved their jobs. Nothing too much trouble. But Sunday breakfast staff no where near as welcoming apart from the lady who was also on, on Saturday morning. However, I would like to mention Leah she was exceptional, thank you, very attentive. The grounds are lovely and enjoyed an afternoon walk around by the stream, seeing the daffodils, camelia just blossoming and the wonderful area of Christmas roses (forgot their Latin name!). We ate in the restaurant on Saturday night, had an amazing meal. Beautifully presented, taste amazing and plenty for Gluten Free which I am. I had the pork with leeks, mash and broccoli, beautiful. All four of us cleaned ours plates and even had room for a dessert. Compliments to the chef which I hope was passed onto you Saturday evening. Such a welcoming hotel, training must be good there. So much nicer and friendly to when we came 8 years ago roughly.

I was chocked by their payment policy. We stayed for 3 nights and payed everything when leaving. Moving to our next hotel in Buxton my Mastercard was refused at the reception. The deposit of Marriott was not released yet and I had to use an other card. I informed at my bank, and they told me the amount (983 euro) would be released by 15 September at 12 o'clock!!! This is one month later!!! This is not done....I shall avoid any Marriott hotel in the future.

The hotel responded to my concerns immediately when I raised them and dealt with them in a professional manner. In particular the Director of Golf was very helpful and we are all looking forward to a fabulous weekend of golf and food at Breadsall.
