We (my hubby and my mom) stayed the last 2 weeks in May in this hotel. I had booked it because I needed an indoor swimming pool for my mom which is her highlight of the year. We loved our stay. The rooms (1 double 1 single) were clean, nice and quiet. The breakfast buffet was excellent with plenty of choices. Swimmingpool was great and we had the chance on 3 days to also use the Saunas which we loved. We did not book the half board as I prefer to try different restaurants and cuisines rather than eating at the same place all the time. We ended up eating a la carte at the hotel quite often. The food was good with the exception of 1 dish on 1 day. The hotel is very quiet and the surrounding invites to hiking tours which we did. The staff is lovely and helpful. Be prepared there is nothing in the village or close by in case you want shops or restaurants or discos etc. It is in the middle of nowhere so to speak. But shops or other restaurants or smaller cities are just 20-30min away and so is the Edersee in case you want to take a boat ride. If you have a car there is plenty to explore. I would love to come back one day to enjoy and join the yoga and horseback riding. This time the vacation was solely for my mom and to spend quality time with her and walking in fresh air in nature.

this a great hotel in a location which is really good for activity and sports, we stayed two nights and found the staff and service excellent great breakfast, running trails and cycling trails to the erdesse direct from the hotel, although we didnt have time to use the riding stables they appeared clean and well used. lovely outdoor pool. would ecommend and will probably use again.

Es war ein gelungener Aufenthalt. Schade war, dass man eigentlich nur das Abendmenü oder Büffet wählen konnte oder ein Hauptgericht. Man konnte nicht in den angegebenen Restaurants essen. Und Schade ist, dass es in der Außensauna nur noch automatische Aufgüsse gibt.

Ich war im Sommer für ein Wochenende im Rahmen eines Freundinnen-Arrangements (inkl. Halbpension und Spa-Eintritt) in diesem Hotel. Leider kann ich es nicht weiterempfehlen, da es massive Probleme im Service gibt. Das Abendbuffet war an einem der beiden Tage sehr fade und beim Frühstück wurde lange Zeit nichts nachgefüllt. Der Service war insgesamt langsam und wortkarg, teilweise hatten wir sogar den Eindruck, ignoriert zu werden. Im Spa-Bereich war die zuständige Mitarbeiterin kaum anwesend – die Möglichkeit, dort etwas zu konsumieren, bestand also kaum. Besonders enttäuschend war, dass mein Geburtstag, von dem das Hotel wusste und der sogar am Vortag und am selben Tag von meiner Freundin nochmals angesprochen wurde, überhaupt nicht berücksichtigt wurde. Trotz Zusage gab es weder Deko noch Kuchen. Erst nach erneutem Nachfragen wurde mir ein Glas Prosecco gebracht. Solche kleinen Gesten kosten nicht viel, machen aber den Unterschied – und hier hat das Hotel klar versagt. Am Abend war der Tisch zwar eingedeckt und der Mitarbeiter aufmerksamer, aber da war mein Eindruck schon geprägt. Positiv hervorzuheben sind die Größe und Sauberkeit des Spa-Bereichs, die wirklich guten Massagen sowie die großen Zimmer. Allerdings ist die Einrichtung etwas in die Jahre gekommen und wirkt nicht mehr zeitgemäß. Das Hotel ist außerdem sehr verwinkelt, bietet dadurch aber einige ruhige Rückzugsorte. Alles in allem hätte der Aufenthalt sehr schön werden können – aber der erste Eindruck zählt, und der wurde hier leider gründlich vermasselt. Ich habe daher bereits im privaten Umfeld von einem Aufenthalt abgeraten und tue das auch hier. Für den gleichen Preis findet man definitiv Hotels, die besseren Service bieten.

Das war unser vierter Aufenthalt im Hotel Freund. Der letzte war noch vor dem Verkauf an die Dr. Lohbeck Gruppe. Leider hat der Standard sehr nachgelassen. Insbesondere das Abendessen-Buffet war bestenfalls Mittelmaß - es wirkte nach „Sparversion“ sowohl in Vielfalt als auch Qualität der Speisen. Frühstück gut, aber für 4 Sterne Superior nichts Besonderes. Auch hier fühlt es sich nach Einsparung an. Die Sonnenliegen waren schnell alle belegt (Wochenende) und es gab bei weitem nicht genügend Auflagen für die Liegen. Das Niveau insgesamt ist nicht (mehr) zu vergleichen mit anderen Hotels dieser Eingruppierung. Das Zimmer war OK, aber nicht ganz auf dem Stand der Zeit. Fazit: Leider war dies unser letztwr Aufenthalt.
