As a family, we have always enjoyed skiing in Obergurgle. Due to its altitude and being the highest parish in Austria, we have never failed to have plenty of snow. We also prefer that it is a quieter resort with great après-ski on the mountain at the Nederhutte. As usual, we booked our half-board stay via Crystal Ski, paying for three twin rooms with balconies. Before arriving, we asked for our rooms to be placed on the quieter side of the hotel, but this request was unsuccessful. Two rooms were of a very high standard with separate toilets to the bathroom and good-sized balconies. My wife and I received a room of a lower standard (room 110) with a tiny balcony on which a single chair and small table were placed, but it was too small for two people to use. There was no bath, and the corner of the room was cut off to accommodate the edge of the building where it met the bend of the road. Our room and balcony were level with the road outside, and for the first time, we all experienced disturbed sleep due to the Hotel’s nightclub and nearby street noise, even those on the third floor (above the Hotel nightclub). We found the hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful. The quality of catering was of a very high standard. The indoor-outdoor pool was pleasant, with a sauna attached. It is disappointing when spending so much on a skiing holiday, that we could not find a room of a better standard. The hotel was unwilling to let us change to a better room, presumably because they did not wish to give our room to someone arriving after us who had not booked through Crystal Ski. For those who wish for a quiet night's rest at this Hotel, I recommend asking for an assurance that you’re on the quieter side of this hotel in a room with a bath, which should guarantee a better room quality.
