Lovely family-run hotel, friendly, welcoming, great room, clean throughout, lovely pool/jacuzzi area. Food was outstanding, haute cuisine but with bigger portions! Fab breakfast buffet. Could not fault it. Brilliant experience all round. Beautiful village, so clean and tidy.

Second visit in 12 months booked through Inghams. Travelled from Manchester to Salzburg, transfer about 2 hours. Met on arrival by Martin the owner and given our room keys. Filedl in personal details for the local card which gives you free use of the 2 lifts, swimming pool, outdoor tennis courts and farmers museum Room 107. First floor at front of hotel. No view but double balcony with parasol, 2 chairs and a table. Typical Austrian twin with lots of storage and hanging space. More than enough sockets, small LCD TV. All very clean and tidy. Bathroom. Modern clean fully tiled bathroom with large corner shower unit, W.C, wash hand basin with mirror over, hairdryer. Towels changed if you request by leaving on the floor. Food. Excellent choice and standard for breakfast and evening meals. (see my review for last year). Drinks were reasonably priced, large beer or radler euro 3.30 and wine started at euro 2.00 per glass or euro 4 for a ¼ carafe. All the staff are extremely polite and helpful. A smile and a hello goes a long way. Reception staff nearly always remember your room number. Good sauna and spar area. Swimming pool small but very welcome after a warm days walking. Excellent walking from the hotel door. Oberau is a very small quiet village with few shops but does have a bakery, spar, banks, sports shop, cafe and deli along with a few restaurants and hotels. It's not like Mayrhofen or Kitzbuhel but then that's it's unique selling point to me. (Although i am fond of both Mayrhofen and Kitzbuhel!) Would return and would recommend. Thank you family Erharter and staff.

We had a great 2 weeks walking . Staying at the Tirolerhof hotel, Oberau. Martin, the owner, and his staff were very attentive and helpful. Nice bedroom at the back of the hotel with lovely views down the valley. On two evenings a week music was provided, a Harpist on one and Martin's Tirol Trio on Thursdays which went down well with hotel guests and locals. At the local school it was end of Summer term and the music students gave an open air concert which was amazing. We can recommend the Tirolerhof hotel to anyone who likes walking in Austria and wanting a comfortable hotel. Clive & Janet

After a break of several years, we have re-visited the Tirolerhof Hotel. In an idyllic position in the Wildschonau valley this family run hotel is maintained to a very high standard. Rooms facing down the valley are good sized and very comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who go out of there way to make your stay as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. The reception area is light and welcoming with plenty of seating, and pretty alpine features. In the restaurant the tables are beautifully presented and you have wonderful views down the valley. This hotel has a sauna and swimming pool area in the basement and also massage facilities(extra charge for this). Also down here is a drying room and ski and boot room. Food here is of an excellent standard with various different themed evenings. Beginner skiing is right outside the door of the hotel, more advanced skiers should be satisfied in Auffach ten minutes free bus transfer up the valley where there is a huge ski area now connected to nearby Alpbach. To sum up, comfortable and friendly hotel with good facilities ideal for family skiing or walking or just relaxing.

We stayed here for a week in February 2016 with two children (10 and 13). The hotel staff were lovely and we felt very at home. This is a family run hotel and the manager Martin was great - also local guitar player! The rooms were spotless and had everything we needed. The food was traditional and overall very good. There might have been a few things I wouldn't have chosen on the set menu but actually I felt we experienced the local dishes and would not have wanted it any other way. The kids had their own kids buffet so could try 'different' things or stick to frankfurter and chips every night if they wanted! The special farmers buffet and dessert buffet were excellent and we really enjoying dinning there every night. We had a view of the slope from our balcony. The Wi Fi was a bit slow if you were able to get it! The pool small but okay, the boot room great, warm and large. There were toboggans for the kids to play on the slope with after the lifts had stopped usually, and we were comfortable letting our two kids go off by themselves around the hotel and immediate slopes as we felt completely safe. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel and resort for families and beginners, I would go back there!

If you like a quiet village location in a typically Austrian hotel then this is the place for you. Oberau is a small village between Niederau and Auffach but it has a few cafes, a sports shop and a large Spar supermarket. The “Bummelbahn” noddy train is an ideal way to get around and at only 15 euros for a weekly ticket it’s a must have. The guest card you receive on arrival gives you free access to all the lifts the valley. We were in a deluxe room with a balcony, large lounge area, lcd tv,fridge and a safe, well worth the little extra it costs to upgrade. Everything worked and the room was well cleaned each day. Only one small negative was that the bath towels were a bit small and thin so if you like big fluffy towels then best bet is to take your own. The food for breakfast and dinner was of a very good standard, not fine dining but perfectly adequate. Extensive breakfast buffet with hot items two or three times a week, homemade jams, fresh fruit, several types of bread, etc. You choose your main course for dinner at breakfast from a choice of 3 which includes one veggie option. There is also a weekly barbeque, farmers buffet and dessert buffet where you can eat as much or as little as you want. There is a small wine list where you a can get a decent bottle of wine for around 22 euros, a bottled wheat beer is 3.50, all drinks were reasonably priced. A nice touch is the free packed lunch which you order the night before, very convenient and saves a lot of money. I think this only applies if you travel with Inghams. All the staff were extremely friendly and spoke perfect English, nothing was too much trouble and it created a very relaxed atmosphere. This hotel in Oberau is perfect for a peaceful holiday and somewhere when you can simply unwind and admire the scenery.

Having has a 2 week holiday here in September and finding it was all we hoped it would be we wanted to share our thoughts. The whole hotel was very clean & well equipped. The staff were very attentive and soon remembered your orders etc. which made it very welcoming. The food was hot and varied and the 3 themed evenings were excellent with a wide variety of choice and musical entertainment. Our room was of a good size with all the amenities required and a lovely balcony with table, chairs and umbrella for shade. We didn't use the Spa facilities much, but we found them to be very relaxing, clean and enjoyable when we did. The small bathing area with loungers available was excellent, especially being fortunate to have warm and sunny weather. The hotel is in an ideal place to visit all regions for both walking and sight seeing and the transport is sufficient if you wish to use it. We did our own walks from various areas & also a number of the tourist information ones, which are organised and free. It was lovely to meet other people and have company and Sonja the guide was very informative. The tourist information web site and office were so helpful and useful, with an immense amount of information available. During our stay there were plenty of events and places to visit, including the new brewery at Mutal where the Bummelbahn stops so is very convenient. We would not hesitate booking another holiday at the Tirolerhof and region, as even after 2 weeks there are still plenty of places to see or re-visit. Thank you so much Martin, family & staff and hopefully we will see you again sometime.
