Great location. Short walk to main shops and activities in town. Gates locked to go in and out of guest house so felt very secure. Staff was so helpful with anything we needed. Very tasty breakfasts. Lot of access to outdoors within the compound with lush courtyard and rooftop. Our unit #11 opened right on to the roof. Rooms are very basic but ours had lots of windows allowing daylight and super comfortable bed. Bathroom pretty rustic and shower with not much pressure but always had hot water. Room could be improved with drapes that closed and lamps by bedsides to read. But a nice choice at reasonable price.

Amazing staff and location. I experienced some billing issues from a 3rd party (not the hotel) and the team here was so helpful in making it right. You can tell they empower their staff to do what is right to make the guest happy. Thank you to the team for making things right and keeping people happy. David W.

Breakfast is just bad. There is a daily menu without any choice: like tortilla with frejoles and chicken on Tuesdays or eggs with ham on Thursdays. Had to get breakfast in a cafė. The room we got was nice and large but no hot water to bathe as we came on a rainy day and on that part of the guest house has only solar heating. The shower head gives a thin sprinkle of water. There is no air conditioning in the rooms and no heater, just fan. For the price I would expect for more. I wonder how come they marked 3star hotel. The second star was given for the good location, the lovely garden, and the comfortable bed. Another really annoying thing is that in order to get in and out of the hotel someone has to open the gate! Why just give the guests a key???“minimalism gone wrong ”

We stayed at the Agrado recently (for a wedding) and we enjoyed it very much. The Agrado is a wonderful hotel, I loved the architecture and the cleanliness was incredible, the interior decoration was also very lovely and comfortable with a clean, minimalist style. Quiet and peaceful, with many lovely, large open communal spaces to sit and relax, a very nice breakfast included and all the linens and towels were very soft and spotlessly white. Filtered water is supplied. The location is perfect, very central and near everything, also there is a person at the front desk 24/7 which is great for feeling secure and getting help with anything you may need. In a nutshell a very peaceful, lovely place to get away from it all.

The Agrado Guest House was the most welcoming & warm place to stay. A home from home. It’s a beautiful building lovingly restored by owner Ana and her family. The rooms are clean, light & spacious with local artworks displayed and, during our visit they hosted a small artisan market in the courtyard. Communal areas are comfortable & there is a rooftop terrace where yoga classes are available in the mornings. The Agrado is situated within easy walking distance of town and we loved exploring the galleries, markets, & restaurants. Ana’s son, Mauricio, manages the guest house & has lots of information on places to eat and visit. This is a family business and it is clear that everyone works towards ensuring the guests get the most from their visit to Oaxaca. They are clearly proud of the city & it’s rich heritage..& rightly so. It has been an inspiring visit and we thoroughly recommend the Agrado.

For the price and location, I really cannot make any complaints! Our room was clean and I dug the Oaxaca meets Minimalist approach. Wifi was not great, but good enough to stream shows at night. The included breakfast was great (and the beautiful, shaded outdoor area to have it) and special thanks to Mao who was able to make us a special diet friendly meal each morning. The coffee was also outstanding. Would stay here again! This place may not be a good fit if you are used to more franchise hotels (particularly in the US). There are no TVs, no room service, no hairdryer (that I could see), not a ton of outlets, or places to hang things etc. As someone who stays in those places a lot, I appreciated the uniqueness of this hotel.

Well, to say the least we were not exactly happy at the Agrado Guest House. Great location and interesting building. Not too many pros, so here are the cons. No hair dryer in room (had to search for one for the wife in the early morning and that took almost an hour); no shower curtain and a lousy shower (it is a tub/shower and the water drains from the shower running off into a drain on the bathroom floor); breakfast, only one choice with cold toast, starts at 8:30, which is not convenient if you have an early morning excursion, plus, it is cooked at the time you sit down, so another 15 minutes is wasted. Also the coffee is not very good and cold. In winter, take a coat to breakfast because it is out side and is very chilly in the morning. Room itself is very spartan. No TV but that was ok because we were busy and our Spanish is lacking at best. Staff is friendly and do their best trying to communicate. Only the head manager speaks English and he does the breakfast cooking. Room was cleaned daily and fresh towels were delivered daily. This was good because we used the bath towels to dry up the water on the bathroom floor so we wouldn't slip and break a hip. Covid protocols were good. There is a small bar area but was not staffed. Again, very convenient location and was clean. But I would suggest another place if staying in Oaxaca.

This is such a great find! The location is brilliant, the staff was friendly, the breakfasts so delicious! It’s a very tidy space with lots of chillout areas. I could seriously live here! There a reading/chill room, the courtyard, the upstairs terrace - where I enjoyed a massage. I’d definitely go back here! Thank you to the lovely people who looked after us so well! Xxx muchos gracias!
