This pub, in a quiet hamlet is delightful with modern amenities and very comfortable rooms. The owner Bronwen has created a pub with a traditional feel beautifully decorated with photographs on the walls representing local scenes. The room we stayed in was Birch - positioned at the back of the pub so we didn’t have a view but that was not a concern. There was space to leave the suitcase in a cupboard and a mirrored bathroom with a good shower. The pub has an excellent restaurant - Minos (Greek) is the current chef and does an excellent job. Our breakfast was fine but the high spot was dinner- the citrus salad with blue cheese - a starter, was terrific. The pies were substantial and a good appetite was required to finish the meal. The waiting staff were very good and personable. We were happy to eat there for the 3 nights. We heard some of the restaurants or pubs in Dulverton were good but we didn’t feel like going out after a busy day when the food here was so good.

Had a wonderful short stay in this magic rural place. Was made to feel so welcome, the food and accommodation was all first class. Its location is so special in a very unspoiled part of England , nesting birds flying around, more swallows and Martins than I have seen all year. Very peaceful and lovely local atmosphere.

We found this lovely place when looking for somewhere to stay near South Molton - which, is very lacking in accommodation. We are so glad we found The Red Lion. Unfortunately we could only stay one night and would have been very happy to stay longer. The room was very pretty and the double extremely comfortable. The room had everything you needed and the bathroom was elegant and spacious with a very good shower. Nice toiletries were provided. We were sorry that we did not have an opportunity to try out the restaurant other than for breakfast which was delicious. The owner and bar/restaurant staff were charming and friendly and the place has a lovely welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Great place to stay. Very warm welcome from all the staff and locals. Great food too. Local produce and daily specials. Great dinner and breakfast. A very friendly local pub in a small village just 15 min or so from Tiverton town center. Thoroughly recommended

This is an amazing experience, if you love staying in mid-Devon, with the nicest people you could meet. We arrived on the Sunday of the Queen's Jubilee, the owner was in constant contact regarding planned events for the weekend, and also food availability etc. The road through the village had planned closure but the whole village made concessions to allow us to park (in the nearby church car park) and get to the pub. From thereon, what a fantastic 2 night stay. We were made very welcome by the staff, our awesome room made available in record time due to our early arrival (road closure / street party). The staff were very attentive, and welcoming, even lighting the pub fire, in early June, as it was very chilly and weather inclement. The party was due to commence at 3pm however, sadly, weather intervened and hasty arrangements were made to move the party into the pub. What happened next was beyond amazing, food by the tray load was brought in by the locals, cakes and desserts to honour the best restaurant tables. But best of all, the local residents, they went out of their way to welcome us into the fold. Whether the local church representatives, farmers, students etc, they are all amazing, so much so, we were invited back to the river raft race on 4th Sept. MASSIVE thank you to Georgina, Lauren for the Sunday, and Tash for the Monday !!! But not just those the house-keeping team, the chef's, Rory and more important, the owner (Laura) who all took time out to sit and chat with us, dpend time to integrate us into the fold. So, what do you get apart from the warm welcome. The pub is extremely clean, staff supportive to the on-going success of this family business. Food is outstanding. A brilliant cooked breakfast with local produce, and as the photo shows, a steak dinner special that is very reasonably priced and very tasty. The rooms are amazing, we had the Forest Room, large, well decorated and a massive bed... but the bathroom, state of the art and a bit 'trippy' in a very nice way. For a pub, this is a whole new level of accomodation. The pub is in mid-Devon on a single track road but the place is an abdolute jewel. But finally, Georgina, thank you for all the intentive care you took introducing us to your fantastic family, but more in all, being a friend. Once again, we arrive as strangers, and leave as friends !!!
