On an official tour, I accompanied a friend, his wife, and Bill, along with my wife, to Pussellawa. Since our mission there was scheduled to end late in the evening, we needed to find nearby accommodation. After searching online, we chose the Glen Loch Factory Hotel despite its mixed reviews, primarily due to its proximity to our location. We arrived late 9th May late in the evening amid a heavy downpour. The staff, with their broad smiles, welcomed us warmly and ensured we were well-sheltered from the rain. From the moment we arrived, it was a comfortable experience. Lal, the manager, along with his assistant Hapeer, handled our registration efficiently. Periyaakka and Yamuna escorted us to our rooms, which were very clean and cozy. Periyaakka took our dinner orders, serving us a delightful meal of hot pol rotty, katta sambol, chicken curry, and an excellent cup of authentic tea on time. The next morning began with a call for bed tea, reminiscent of the grand tea services from years past, with its unmatched taste, color, and aroma. After a fulfilling breakfast of tasty hoppers prepared by Periyakka, Ms. Shiva led us on a complimentary factory tour. She expertly guided us through the A – Z of the tea industry, culminating in another superb cup of tea. For anyone wanting to spend a night in the upcountry, don’t miss the Glen Loch Tea Factory Hotel. It offers a genuinely homely atmosphere with sincere, friendly service—truly the epitome of value for money."
