Game Fish Lodge

We were looking for a quiet but quality stay at Nungwi and liked the look of Game Fish Lodge. However, the warm hosts and excellent location rose well above our expectations. Lesley and Colin are always available to guide you on how to make the most of your stay in Zanzibar, which is great for a tourist as there are plenty of ways to waste time and get scammed in the island. We also had great conversations with them over sumptuous meals. Our stay was incredible and we truly missed this kind of service in our next stay in the island. Highly recommended!

Colin and Lesley are excellent hosts and genuine, lovely, friendly people who made our stay in Zanzibar so enjoyable and memorable, we had a fabulous holiday. If you, like us, want to avoid the usual chain-type hotel and are looking for somewhere owner-managed, small, personal and quiet with a great location and a little bit away from the hustle on the beach and streets of Nungwi, this is for you. Colin and Lesley care deeply and work really hard for their guests. You’ll see spectacular sunrises and have direct access to the beach where you can take a short walk to a beautiful sand bar in one direction, or walk a little further in the other direction and find yourself in the busy resort area. There are plenty of places to eat and drink within walking distance. You have the best of both worlds! Colin’s cooking is amazing and we loved our breakfasts and several evening meals. There’s a well stocked honesty bar for beer, soda and water so a beer, swim in the pool and a lazy afternoon with our books was a great way to relax. We were so grateful for their guidance on the sights to see and correct prices to pay, and we had a lot of fun using the motorcycle taxis ($1 each into the centre of Nungwi, $2 to Kendwa). Colin’s humour made us laugh so much we were almost crying at times! Overall, Game Fish Lodge is great value, down-to-earth and straightforward, which we loved! I was staying with my family of 7 at Gamefish lodge for 11 nights. This was my second stay there, and I cant wait to go back again. Colin and Lesley are truly fantastic hosts in every way, and are really genuine and lovely people who i have come to think of as dear friends. Staying at Game fish lodge is the perfect place for a relaxed and carefree holiday. Its located beautifully by the ocean, comfortable rooms and away from the noise of nightlife and traffic. Fantastic breakfasts, attentive staff, clean rooms, brilliant aircon and Wi-Fi. I wanted for nothing!

Me and the family had such a good stay at Game fish. Collin and Leslie were both very helpful and accommodating, helping us with everything from booking different trips to helping with blisters from our shoes. The best hosts for trips like these. Hilaly who is also working for game fish was an absolutely lovely man while keeping up with everything that needed to be done. He is so very kind and helpful. They served an outstanding breakfast every morning and dinner when requested. Game fish is in a very good location in Nungwi, it’s close to everything, but not in the middle of the crowds. It was easy to both get your own space but also go out and explore the beautiful place you’re visiting. Will definitely be staying here when I go back.

An amazing place to stay in Zanzibar, everywhere else it’s crowded and unpleasant with little to no personal space. But game fish lodge is amazing, it’s beautiful with a lovely sight over the sea and Leslie and Colin and their employee Hilaly are absolutely lovely people. They are funny, nice, interesting and make the best breakfast you can imagine and incredible dinner when arranged. I recommend game fish over any place for the best Zanzibar experience!

Here for a second stay this year which in itself shows how much we love Game Fish Lodge. Colin and Lesley have created something special in Nungwi. I love the laid back relaxed feeling . Situated to the south east side of the main town the lodge is rustic tranquil and a perfect place to relax and recharge. Nungwi village is a 10 walk along the beach but you are far enough away to be outside of the tourist zone. Not suitable for those of you looking for waiter service and sunbeds on the beach . But perfect for those who enjoy a relaxed base for your holiday in Zanzibar

The amazing reviews are the reason I booked Game fish lodge , but Leslie, Colin and Nala 🐶 are the reason I fell in love with this place, I have never felt more at home when travelling as I have here. There are beautiful sand banks that open up during low tide just a few minutes walk down the beach 🥰. This location is so much more peaceful than some of the other beaches we have visited. Colin and Lesley gave us the best advice for booking our day trips and helped us with organizing transport around the island too. The rooms are lovely and clean and the beds are comfortable. The view from our room was INCREDIBLE to wake up to, the food was the BEST I've had in Zanzibar and I learned so much about the island and it's people, Colin, Leslie and Nala thank you for making our stay so special. This was my first visit to Zanzibar and certainly not my last, I can't wait to see you guys again!

Overall, I had the greatest experience with the owners Lesley and Colin. They were super helpful with arranging day trips and also suggesting which sites and activities to see and do. This was super informative since we did not have a strict itinerary on arrival. Their knowledge about the island and the locals goes beyond what you'll find on a Google search, which was incredibly helpful, and the food was so good! I can not stress enough how amazing the food was! The room was wonderful, clean, and perfect to unwind in after a long day of exploring. If you are looking for a family away from home, book with these guys, they made us feel so welcome . I'm definitely booking with Game Fish Lodge on my next visit.

Me and my wife had 8 fantastic days at ”Game fish lodge”. The lodge and owners ,Colin and Lesley, were excactly what We had hoped they would be. From the genuinly warm wellcome to the emotional good bye, Colin and Lesley where more than the perfect hosts. Every possible effort was made to make sure our holiday was perfect. The lodge itself its a small 6 roomed hotel in a rustic setting ,1 km south of Nungwi centre. The rooms are clean, have a beautiful view of the Indian Ocean, great airconditioning and a small patio area. There is a swimmingpool, plenty of seating area scattered around the grounds and bar facilties. The lodges location away from the hustle and bustle of Nungwi centre makes it a perfect spot for a quiet and relaxed holiday. If you are looking for a central five star hotel with roomservice, private beaches and waiter service this isnt for you. But if like us you want a peaceful, relaxed holiday with hosts who go far more than the extra mile -look no further.
