The resort was nice - quite pretty actually. The staff was very nice. The food was lacking (always a buffet, always late to be set up, and always with just one meat option and a lot of rice - we were constantly hungry). The staff spent a lot of time moving the dining tables around and re-setting the tables yet there was never enough cutlery and the meals were always late. Unfortunately, it seemed like this resort was not very used to being a resort - I forgive them for this, I suspect Covid hit Zanzibar hard-. I am giving the resort a 1 star (would give NO STARS if I could) because we ended up paying them twice: original stay was December 26-29 which we needed to extend to Dec 25-29th. Due to confusing directions from ******* and absolutely no answer from the resort whatsoever, we re-booked December 25-29th. Tanzanite Beach resort has completely refused to cancel Dec 26-29th booking and despite numerous calls where they have promised to refund me and many requests sent both prior to and post stay, they have not refunded me. In person, the front desk staff kept referring me to some unknown owner figure that would get back to me. I doubt they will ever refund me. I would not stay at this resort or recommend this resort to anyone. As a previous commenter said I would be extremely careful to provide them services or any sort of deposit. They will not say no to your face but if you were unlucky enough to have overpaid them or provided them a service without being paid immediately, they will pretend it never happened and keep your money. It is unfortunate that I had to leave this review.
