We arrived mid afernoon and were shown to our room - which was quite small, very dark, with a concrete patio with no real view, and a dodgy front door :-) It was, to say the least, disappointing - we hadn't booked a budget room but it felt like we had. Yes, the beach is a few minutes walk away, the bar and pool area look lovely - but the room we were offered didn't quite cut it! So yes, my review is based on first impressions but having asked to be moved and not being offered anything that resembled some of the nicer photos on the website, we decided to move that night to a different hotel :-(

Best place to stay in Madirokely - at the quiet end of the ***** beach, and with a large elevated deck that gives amazing views of the all the activity in the bay. We had a beach bungalow (8) and while it was smallish, with no air con, the ceiling fan and freestanding fan kept us from overheating during the night. Bungalows are rustic, and you may get a gecko or 2 inside, however the grounds are beautiful, all very well cleaned and serviced, and the saltwater infinity pool plus the 2nd pool, make this an awesome place to stay. Excellent food and cocktails in the reataurant and the Manager Marika personally made us feel welcome. Highly recommended.

Not sure why the negative reviews but each to their own. We unfortunately only stayed two nights at the start of a two week break and was the best easily out of the 4 hotels we stayed at. We were in room 6 overlooking the beach and near the pool/restaurant. The food was 5 star as well as the service. Most of the staff spoke English which was a help and always had a smile. The surroundings are surreal and well kept. The room was on the smaller side but cosy, not too hot and had a nice terrace. After leaving for another hotel which was completely opposite, tried to re-book but it was unfortunately full. The location is the best on the island as not only by the beach but a short walk to town. There is a party on Sundays and they even give you ear plugs which is cute. The negative reviews may have been a while ago and I would highly recommend staying at l'heure bleu as we are fussy and could not find a fault. Shame we left early, if we knew then what we know now we would have stayed 2 weeks within a heart beat.

This is a very special resort set in a beautiful environment and providing excellent service and gourmet dining. We had a great suite jutting out over the sea and with our own balcony. Their food is beautifully presented and delicious. Note though, bottled water is not provided in the room and there is no air conditioning.

We stayed here for 2 nights in order to do a whale shark excursion. The hotel is at the quieter end of the bay (no disco noise when we were there). We had one of the newer lodges with a sea view but not over the water (number 14). It was up on the hill with its own little garden and great views. The room has mossie nets on all the slatted windows so you can leave them open for fresh air. There is also an overhead fan and a free standing one. Mini bar but no hairdryer or kettle. No complimentary water. Cold towel on arrival and invited to go to the bar for a welcome drink at our convenience. Breakfast was good - fruit, juice, rolls, pastries plus choice of eggs or pancakes. Dinner choice from a fairly wide menu. We ordered from the snack menu however and had a very good burger and fries! Drinks reasonable. Staff very friendly. The bay itself is a bit seedy and downmarket but if staying for a couple of days to do an excursion I would stay again

We had a pleasant stay, close to a nightclub some may be bothered by the noise. The bungalows are spacious, the terrace pleasant. The establishment is quiet and clean. The only downside is the pools in the shade. The staff is pleasant and professional. We ate well at dinner and a hearty breakfast, very nice setting!

I only stayed in this property for one night (too little)...well-maintained structure, mix of wood and concrete...excellent taste, good restaurant (dinner, breakfast, lunch)...nothing to say, highly recommended, friendly staff and available wifi also available in the top room. Really an experience worth repeating

3 nights spent at the blue hour with family in a classic sea view bungalow and a family bungalow. The agency had booked for us, our rooms were very good but I would advise taking the more luxurious waterfront lodges, if the hotel had not been full we would have paid the difference. Comfortable rooms, bathroom ok but it would be good to put a curtain in the shower because even if you are careful, everything is soaked. The bungalows have a nice terrace with 2 comfortable armchairs overlooking the sea. Beach not great but 2 swimming pools. Top and responsive service at reception: last day they offered us the day use room to store luggage and take a shower before the plane. Really nice thank you! Good breakfast with homemade breads and pastries, choice of egg or pancake (1 pancake I find a little stingy) For the restaurant, good overall, we will have eaten there all 3 evenings but communication between service and kitchen is not always great. The last day before our departure, we ordered at 2:30 p.m., it was going to be served at 3 p.m. and at 3:30 p.m. we still hadn't eaten for a 4 p.m. departure, too bad. My daughter's burger arrives without fries (there are no more!) and I don't have any raita with my squid... and if the management isn't there, no one makes a move, it's a real shame. Another evening, the Rossini burger for lunch 30000mga cannot be served in the evening but they have a mini Rossini burger as a starter 36000, when we ask them for a main course, it's not possible??? We wanted to pay more but no????On the other hand, the day before, when the Rossini burger arrived without foie gras and they offered a slice of terrine on the side (which was really crazy), the The manager immediately reacted by offering us cocktails for the next day. In summary yes but we need a better team in the kitchen.
