Sambatra Bed and Breakfast

I stayed in this B&B for 15 days for our honeymoon. What can I say. As far as our type of vacation is concerned, for us it was almost perfect in every way. The accommodation is cleaned every morning (which is absolutely not a given) Very spacious bathroom and bed with mosquito nets, not even a single mosquito bit us even though it was more humid at night because it was raining... a sea view awaits you just a stone's throw away with breathtaking sunsets every evening. The owners Elisabetta and Jun are two exquisite people, together with Valerio they made us feel at home from day one, welcoming us with great enthusiasm. They were always ready to give us some advice, which was very useful in making our trip even more beautiful and completely safe. Then there is Roky, a Madagascan boy who stole our hearts. With a unique sweetness and friendliness... he never fails to smile! A great strong point is certainly also the cuisine... unforgettable. Everything fresh, prepared at the moment (jams, gnocchi, fruit juice, rum), a never banal menu! The raw fish is a gem.. What can I say? We were looking for a place far from the usual all-inclusive resorts where you can't breathe the local air.. and if you want this type of vacation too, this is the right place! PS. Those who love animals like us will be surrounded by incredible unconditional love thanks to the presence of their big dogs.. I would like to point out that I had booked eight months in advance, to get the best accommodation, as stated on their website and brochure, a bungalow facing the sea with mosquito nets, I arrived and where they put me, in a large room behind the kitchens, without a mosquito net, after having made the necessary complaints after two nights they moved us to those facing the garden, very spacious room and bathroom, mosquito nets on the windows broken, no blackout, at dawn I wake up a beautiful light enters, the sink tap dances like the toilet seat, when you sit down it runs away not to mention the night barking of the ten dogs of the owner who are in the garden of her house on the border with the rooms; I forgot when you are at the table at the restaurant you will always have two dogs attached to you who would like food, let's not forget the sea and the beach in front ugly, the bottom is a bit muddy and the water is always cloudy... well I don't want to continue with so many small shortcomings, on the other hand the local staff is very kind and does everything to make you feel at ease, like the chef who makes excellent spaghetti to your taste, when he has the ingredients, which are not always there not even bananas. In conclusion before arriving here, I have been to two other Lodges in Komba and Sakatia, a whole other planet. Reading the previous enthusiastic reviews, I think that something has changed.

I spent a month at Sambatra with my partner and my son. The property is in Ambaro in the center of Nosy Be and is perfect for organizing boat trips to visit the various islands, as well as behind the main road so very convenient for moving by taxi or tuc tuc to the various villages, beaches and places of interest on the island. In addition, it is located on the beach so perfect for relaxing watching the beautiful sunsets drinking a beer or swimming. The rooms are always clean and the restaurant is excellent and you can eat at any time of day at honest prices, and enjoy the breakfast included in the morning looking at the sea. The most special thing are Jan and Elisabetta with their kind, friendly and always available to chat and help their guests with any type of information and need, such as organizing tours, taxis or putting you in touch with locals to find everything you need. After a month together at the hotel I can say that a friendship has been created and my son was super happy to stay there with Jan (now his friend) and the local children on the beach playing while mom and dad could relax on the hotel loungers. The prices are very affordable compared to more touristy resorts and hotels in the area. I highly recommend staying at Sambatra for everything it offers and for where it is located, also because it feels like home. 5 stars! Stefano, Erika and Nicoló
