The food is good and nice service. The room is a bit old

We Ate and Stopped in the Hotel at The Cat and Lion on Friday Night. The Staff we're Fantastic, From Booking in, to taking our Food Order and all throughout the Meal they Could not do Enough for you. And the Food was Exceptional. Then after a Great Night Sleep at the Hotel, In the Morning We Had a Real Hearty Breakfast , And Honestly The Full English was also a Full Plate. Which was Once Again Cooked to Perfection. And after reading the Upcoming Festive Menu, it's safe to say that not only have we Highly Recommended The Cat and Lion to Friends and Family But we will 100% be Coming Back Very Soon. The positive bit - Nothing wrong with the room, cleanlieness and comfort for an overnight stay. Quite acceptable. The negative bit - Booked a room with breakfast included, arrived to be told breakfast at the weekend started at 9am and they couldn't do anything to assit fitting in with my shcedule of having to leave before 9am, soon after 7.30am. Even though they had a sign I noticed later saying takeaway option offered on the bar I was told nothing could be offered to me. Very disappointed. It wouldn't have been too difficult to ask me if I had wanted to take a glass of orange juice and a couple of Pan O chocolate or pastries to my room at bedtime. All I was told by the owner was we have a party tonight which wioll be going on late, so can't do anything early. That's not service. I paid for something I didn't get. I booked a table for dinner online before arriving. Excellent that it was in a quieter area of the pub as it was a busy Friday night. I ordered both the main course and sweet at the bar. main course was good and came promptly but I was less happy to have to go up to the bar and remind staff I had ordered a sweet too an hour later. So service here pretty poor.

We had some family business to sort and needed to stay away from home for a very busy week. We had booked the Cat and Lion as it was the closest hotel that was available. We struck lucky, really lucky. The accommodation was good, quiet and not too big. The managers and all the staff were so friendly attentive and welcoming . A stay we were not expecting to enjoy became a pleasure, to be greeted with a genuine smile was so good and to be addressed by my first name at breakfast on the second morning was exceptional. Whilst our treatment was very good our dog Dudley was treated better. Very much another plus point. To all of the staff at the Cat and Lion a very big Thank you

Nice room away from the pub . Separate pub serves excellent choice of food from award winning home made pies cooked with their own brewery and to Mediterranean dishes . Good range of drinks including brewery own ales , meal and drink deals Mon to Fri. Lovely interior in both rooms and pub. Easy to park, near rooms. Outside seating area at the pub.

A sensible choice for a one night stop off. Friendly staff, bedroom fine and the pub food well prepared and plentiful. A good range on the menu and served until late. Breakfast, like the dinner, was good. The pub/hotel's own description was completely accurate!

Stayed one night on the way to Manchester. Everyone very friendly. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, with an interesting choice of dishes, Breakfast was superb! room very comfortable. Large car park. Very good price for the facilities available. Will certainly stay again if in the area.

Great pub with restaurant attached to the property. Staff were helpful and friendly. Good parking and very close to the motorway. Room was ok to average although a little tired, especially the bathroom which had screw holes and missing paint where wall fittings had been removed... Interesting brewery history.
