We had a family reunion at the weekend that took place at Freigeist. Very well suited for large groups. The atmosphere was great, the rooms were large and attractively furnished. The restaurant area was very attractively designed, you almost feel like you are in your living room. The food and drinks were good, and the bar was also very well stocked. The staff, the trainee team in our case, were very friendly and professional, keep it up. Only the check-out and the billing upon departure were a disaster and did not correspond at all to what I would expect from a 4* hotel with a very expensive room and food/drinks. For this reason, it was only rated "satisfactory".

I was there for a conference many years ago and had fond memories of the hotel, which is why I booked it. Great and quiet location, lots of greenery, almost in the forest. The rooms are very nice. However, I would only stay overnight there and not eat in the restaurant. Absolutely overpriced for this quality. Salad with overcooked chicken breast €19 and a glass of white wine 0.15 €10. Sorry, we are in Northeim in the forest and not in Hanover. Of course, you don't have to drink wine, but if you "expect" to get a nice meal, that's part of it for me. As I said, stay overnight, would happily go back, won't eat again!

I cancelled a cancelable booking hours too late. I was offered a voucher instead. When I accepted it, I was told that it was no longer possible, without any deadlines being communicated to me. It was simply a decision made afterwards. They don't keep their word here. Zero customer service.

The (seminar) hotel is very idyllically located in the forest, is modern and very clean. The restaurant is also very nice, but the menu is very limited and the portions are expensive. The staff were friendly, but rather overwhelmed, the food was served at the same time as the wine. It was also a shame that the table next to the wasp nest (which they knew about!!) was always occupied and the guests had to flee again and again. The whole terrace was infested with wasps. If the wasp nest were removed, the stay would be much more relaxed.

Particularly noteworthy is the super breakfast (even vegetarians get their money's worth), the beautiful outdoor area with a small lake, the heavenly peace and quiet and the very appealing design. What needs to be improved is that our room was not ready at 3 p.m. and that the breakfast room is not practical for disabled people (no space to put plates at the buffet and steps between the buffet and the table).

It was a wonderful stay with the family and our dog. The owners were also very friendly and gave us good restaurant recommendations. The breakfast there was excellent and you can get out of town quickly.
