AI Summary
The location is excellent, offering tranquility near the canal. Guests appreciated the comfortable beds but wished for more pillows. The nearby sewage works might be a minor inconvenience.

Room clean and facilities ok for price. Just not much external lighting when trying to find the room in the dark. Also could do with updating heating systems as does make continuous noises. Not the best of night sleep

Let’s start with the positives: Lovely location near to the canal - lots of beautiful walks very close by. Great walk in shower Restaurant on site with delicious food The room heater was efficient and warm. Free parking and great WiFi The negatives: We stayed in November. The duvet was summer weight and when we asked for an extra blanket we were given a lightweight cover. We spent the first night with our coats on top of the bed. As we were staying for three nights we went out and bought our own 13.5 tog duvet. Can’t understand why the summer weight had not been upgraded for the winter. 🥶 The pillows were like a couple of flat pancakes and also need upgrading. There was a hanging rail with no coat hangers, luckily we had some with us that we could use. No drawers for clothes, just a couple of bedside shelves. The lighting was poor, had to use a torch to read in bed. Perhaps the Narrow Boat is geared up for those staying for a single night, rather than those staying for longer.

Restaurant food menu is good. The chicken wings lacked any flavour . The fish was all batter and very little fish. There is also a service charge added to your bill Would not visit for food again.

Visited the narrow boat for a 70th birthday lunch. Roast beef dinner was lovely. The staff were nice and attentive. We also stayed the night in one of their rooms which was clean warm and a comfortable bed. The rooms are in a block separate from the main building.

We stayed Friday for one night as we were visiting friends in nearby Weedon Bec. We were warmly greeted by Julian and check-in was easy. Our accommodation is just across the car park and was more than adequate for our needs. We decided to have a drink before going out and there is a good selection of beers and wines, all reasonably priced. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting to Julian and learning about his sister's plans for The Narrow Boat. Obviously in January the weather isn't appropriate for sitting out in the garden overlooking the canal, but there is also another indoor restaurant that overlooks the terrace. We were more than happy sitting in the smaller restaurant/bar area particularly with the log-burning stove beside us! We had a look at the food menu which looked very nice and reasonably priced. Our breakfast on Saturday morning was delicious. My husband opted for the "full works" which had a supplement, whilst I went for the standard one. Very nicely presented and the poached eggs were perfectly cooked. As other people have said, The Narrow Boat is on the A5 so you will experience some noise from the road but you get used to it. We look forward to coming back to stay again the next time we're in the area. Thanks to Julian and the chef for making us so welcome.

This pub is great in the summer as it overlooks the canal, and has a really nice garden. However the inside lacks something so not a nice cosy space. Food ok but not that inspiring so would only go in for a drink.

I have just been charged £14 for a prawn and smoked salmon. Salad with about 10 tiny prawns and not even 1oz of salmon. Lettuce tomato and onion and hardly any dressing Extremely poor. This place used go do great roast dinners and even those have gone dow.hill We won't be visiting again. Feed people better than this or fail it's a shame and a rip off

We stayed for two nights at the Narrow Boat as it was a convenient base for our walk along the Grand Union Canal. The location (right on the canal) was excellent, the rooms are in a separate building across the car park so traffic noise from the busy road was not a problem. The rooms were well furnished and clean, and tea and coffee making facilities were provided. The beds were very comfortable, although extra pillows would have been welcome. Staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant both evenings, the menu is not huge but food was well cooked and portions were generous. Previous reviews have mentioned a lack of breakfast on weekdays, that appears to have changed as we had a delicious breakfast cooked to order both mornings. Overall the Narrow Boat met our needs perfectly and we found it good value for money.
